The last of our session of this season is on the 4th of June at 5:45 pm to 7:15pm this will follow the usual format and all of next season‘s dates are now published in the post pinned at the top of the page - there is also an event for each of the sessions
Off Ice training is designed to help players with the skills they may not get from an on Ice practice
We look at exercises that can be used for strengthening conditioning that is Ice hockey related. These are simple exercises that can be done at home or prior to heading out on the Ice as a warmup and the skills focus on balance agility and core strength.
Classroom sessions focus on Hockey IQ which is basically understanding the game so we look at things like what the Coach wants when they communicating the drills and what skills the drills will give you that are relevant to playing a game
It will look at drills and what team plays those drills are practising and what behaviours they are trying to teach during a live game situation
We use Video of games of various age groups to demonstrate decision-making King and to encourage young players to understand what the advantages are of selected plays and how those develop in a real game
We also look at things like rules understanding what they are why they’re in Place and how to work with the rules rather than against them
There are various techniques and some special Team plays such as power-play and Short handy Plays
We also look at developing an understanding the roles of players in certain positions the difference between wing Centre defence and F1 F2 F3 D1 D2
One of the first things we do at the start of the season is look at where the players currently are on their Ice hockey journey looking at their skillet the parts of the game they’re great at the parts of the game they would like to work on and an understanding of how they feel about the various skills required to play the game. This helps to focus the sessions in the coming year and facilitates information to be passed to Team coaches to look at the best ways of developing those players through the coming season.
We also encourage parents guardians and siblings to come along to the sessions to help them understand the game what they are watching and why certain things happening in game situation or wire Coach may take their team in a particular direction. Hopefully this knowledge helps to reinforce the understanding of the objectives from the Coach and a better overall understanding of the game for everybody taking part.
Each element of The Office Practices is around 20 minutes long there are teas, coffee and biscuits available
And the sessions are £7 per participant they’re open to anybody of any age or Club there is a form to fill-in on your very first session that must be signed by a parent or guardian for the relevant safeguarding
The session is run by a level two English Ice hockey coach
The sessions are welcome to from Learn To Play to experience players and anybody that wants to understand the game a little bit better
We can also Taylor sessions to a teams needs or desires based on what their coach or players has attend the sessions filled with most benefit them
Feel free to share this with anybody that might wish to take part and And here is a list of all of the coming season dates
