Phoenix Swimming Academy

What a journey this has been! Had this girl from a very young age a total beginner and yesterday her swimming journey continued to London Aquatics Centre for the IAPS Nationals. The thousands of hours in the pool, the effort the drive the dedication just shows it pays off. The Years of 1-2-1’s, the school lessons, the extra school lessons, the swim squads and the hours and hours spent in the pool at Wrekin Swim Club! Yesterday was the best she’s ever swam, everything clicked together…. Qualified in 14th in 50m Freestyle, our target was a pb and to get as close to the final as possible…. Well a huge 1.89 second quicker than qualifying and a 10th place in 34.26 put Kitty into the final, was absolutely buzzing! An unbelievable achievement! Over a year ago we set out a plan to reach the finals, sat down with mom and dad and showed them what I want her to achieve and it’s coming together. Over the moon! No rest though and this shows her dedication we’ve got a coaching session today ready for Sheffield in 2 weeks and more upcoming big events! Let’s go!!!! 😃😃

Getting to coach these children day in day out is the reason why I got into coaching. I taught each and everyone of these from such a young age and basically taught them to swim making this one of my proudest moments. They work so hard during our school sessions, swim squads and outside 1-2-1’s I could not ask for more, even though I do want more from them 😂. I said at the start of the Year to them all we’ve got targets to hit:
Telford and Wrekin Champions
County Prep Champions
Qualify for IAPS Nationals finals
Qualify for English Schools National relays… and we’ve done the lot. The best thing about it is there’s still so much more to come from this bunch and all of our other swimmers who push each other on a daily basis. Proud is an understatement 😃😃😃😃

A massive congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 swimmers who competed in the Telford and Wrekin Primary Schools Gala last night. Our swimmers swam in individual races across all 4 strokes and both relays, overall coming first in our category, a fantastic performance by all, well done Wrekin Prep!

We’ve had loads of enquiries recently about Summer crash courses so trying to be organised and letting people know what dates they are in advance so you can work them around your holidays! 😅

Taking our Crash Courses to the next level… 🏊‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️

What a crazy manic 2 weeks we’ve had of Easter crash courses 🐣 As always what makes these courses so enjoyable is the different levels of abilities we start the week
with. 😀

Lessons specific to each child’s needs and targets so they achieve as much as possible during the course! A quick total up of certificates achieved over both weeks and we are amazed at the progress made 🏅

* 9 5metres
* 11 10metres
* 14 25metres
* 7 50metres
* 6 100metres

And that doesn’t include the distances badges right up to 1000m/ stage certificates that children have achieved, alongside all of the club swimmers we’ve had wanting to perfect certain aspects of their strokes/dives/turns/speed! A huge well done to all children for pushing through new challenges and barriers to achieve so many targets 🏊‍♂️

Of course a massive thank you goes to all teachers too who I know have really enjoyed these courses as much as the children have, so a big thank you to Matt Archie Zara Macey Maya Michelle Tabitha Yasmin 🌟

We’ve had a fantastic first 3 days of our crash courses this week with so many achievements which will be updated tomorrow!
