What a breathtaking finale to the season for the Telford Wrekin Raiders as they went head-to-head with the Sheffield Shadows in an electrifying battle that had fans on the edge of their seats until the very last second!

The Raiders exploded out of the gates, dominating the opening period with two quick-fire goals to take a commanding 2–0 lead over the Shadows. The intensity only grew in the second period as both teams fought relentlessly, but neither side could break through in a tense defensive showdown.

Then came a dramatic third period packed with action, determination, and controversy. The Shadows stormed back with two goals to level the game, but the Raiders refused to back down. Jade Poxon fired home a crucial third goal to restore the Raiders’ lead and send the crowd into celebration at 3–2.

But with the clock winding down, heartbreak struck. The Shadows managed to sneak in a controversial equaliser after the referee had already blown the whistle, tying the game 3–3 late in the final period.

With less than two minutes remaining, the Shadows were hit with a bench penalty for too many players on the ice, giving the Raiders one last golden opportunity with the player advantage. The Raiders unleashed wave after wave of attacks, throwing everything they had at the net in a thrilling final push — but despite their relentless effort, they couldn’t quite find the game-winner.

Still, it was a heroic performance and a fitting end to an unforgettable season.

The Telford Wrekin Raiders and Telford Wrekin Havoc development team are both looking for new skills and talent!

Are you looking to join a new team? Played hockey in the past and want to get back into it again? Perhaps you know how to ice skate, but always have wanted to play hockey? If this is you, come join us Sunday, May 17th at 6pm at Telford Ice Rink to show off your ice hockey skills!

Drop-in is £15 per person, must bring your own skates and be comfortable with stopping and turning. Other hockey gear can be supplied, if needed.

Rounding off the weekend the Raiders hosted the Leeds Roses Ice Hockey Club. While the scoreboard didn’t go our way, we showed a massive improvement on our last outing against the Roses, closing the gap significantly and proving this team doesn’t back down.

We’re sending our best to our teammates that were sidelined with injury tonight, wishing you both a speedy recovery.

Spirit of the game went to Kara Gledhill for never stopping skating. Players Player went to our goalie Xain Curry who came up with big saves.

Next up on the Raiders busy weekend! The Havoc enjoyed a mixed scrimmage with the Grimsby Wolves Female Ice Hockey Club. Thank you for having us!
