Young Leaders in training!

This evening 16 of our Young Leaders received a specialist training session from Josie from England Hockey.

We are excited to have partnered with England Hockey, Haberdashers' Adams and Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin to deliver the England Hockey Primary State School Project - giving more young people, from all backgrounds access to play hockey.

Our Young Leaders will be delivering a hockey festival later this month with 20 local primary schools invited to attend throughout the day.

We are excited to continue providing development opportunities for our juniors and improving access to the sport we love!

When not parading around in carnivals, our juniors can be found out on the Astroturf!

Today we had 52 Newport juniors representing the club across our U8s, U10s, U12s and U14s teams in round robin tournaments hosted by Shrewsbury HC.

As always, they did us proud, playing with determination, passion and showing sportsmanship throughout.

A special mention to our U14 B's who finished tournament runners up, whilst the U14 A's also went unbeaten throughout. Plus the U12 B's picked up 4 wins and a draw in their tournament - a super set of results!

A huge thanks to all of our coaches for giving their time and energy to enable so many of our juniors to play today!

It may be a different sport but we will be backing England this summer as they try (once again) to bring it home.

Well... some of us will.

Others will be cheering on the likes of Cape Verde, Curacao, Jordan and Uzbekistan who are playing in their first ever world cups!

With 96 entries, we have 2 sweepstakes running and rivalries are heating up, just like the weather, with the tournament kicking off tomorrow!

Plenty more hockey on display today, as we entered U8s, U10s and U12s teams into round robin tournaments hosted by Wednesbury Hockey Club.

💯The U8s were on fire, winning all 4 matches conceding just once - some team performance!

⭐The U10s picked up 3 wins and 1 loss, playing some stunning hockey in the process!

📈The U12s had a tricky start but finished with a bang with a 6-0 win, showing their quality!

Well done to everyone who played and thank you to Wednesbury Hockey Club for organising.

Tonight saw the first game of the women’s 7’s summer league, with 2 teams from Newport playing, the first game saw Newport A play Bridgnorth ending 3-3, and a very tight game that could have gone either way for Newport B who lost 2-1 in the very last minute of the game against Shrewsbury,
Amazing effort from everyone. 👏👏

A great evening for the U13s Mixed XI who came away with an 8-0 win in the Shropshire CVL Summer League. An excellent team performance!

A great 4-1 win under the lights last night for the Womens 11aside Summer League team.

The Womens section are also looking forward to the 7aside action starting tonight with 2 teams entered into Thursday 7’s league.
