Newport Hockey Club

When not parading around in carnivals, our juniors can be found out on the Astroturf!

Today we had 52 Newport juniors representing the club across our U8s, U10s, U12s and U14s teams in round robin tournaments hosted by Shrewsbury HC.

As always, they did us proud, playing with determination, passion and showing sportsmanship throughout.

A special mention to our U14 B's who finished tournament runners up, whilst the U14 A's also went unbeaten throughout. Plus the U12 B's picked up 4 wins and a draw in their tournament - a super set of results!

A huge thanks to all of our coaches for giving their time and energy to enable so many of our juniors to play today!

It may be a different sport but we will be backing England this summer as they try (once again) to bring it home.

Well... some of us will.

Others will be cheering on the likes of Cape Verde, Curacao, Jordan and Uzbekistan who are playing in their first ever world cups!

With 96 entries, we have 2 sweepstakes running and rivalries are heating up, just like the weather, with the tournament kicking off tomorrow!

Plenty more hockey on display today, as we entered U8s, U10s and U12s teams into round robin tournaments hosted by Wednesbury Hockey Club.

💯The U8s were on fire, winning all 4 matches conceding just once - some team performance!

⭐The U10s picked up 3 wins and 1 loss, playing some stunning hockey in the process!

📈The U12s had a tricky start but finished with a bang with a 6-0 win, showing their quality!

Tonight saw the first game of the women’s 7’s summer league, with 2 teams from Newport playing, the first game saw Newport A play Bridgnorth ending 3-3, and a very tight game that could have gone either way for Newport B who lost 2-1 in the very last minute of the game against Shrewsbury,

A great evening for the U13s Mixed XI who came away with an 8-0 win in the Shropshire CVL Summer League. An excellent team performance!

A great 4-1 win under the lights last night for the Womens 11aside Summer League team.

The Womens section are also looking forward to the 7aside action starting tonight with 2 teams entered into Thursday 7’s league.

🏑 MAJOR INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS FOR NEWPORT HOCKEY CLUB! 🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿The club is bursting with pride to share some incredible news regarding one of its fantastic members, Martin Hall, who has just returned from international duty with a gold medal!Martin represented the England O70s team over the weekend at the Home Nations tournament, playing an integral role in their completely dominant championship run. The squad went the entire tournament without conceding a single goal, securing a clean sweep over the competition:🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Friday: A fantastic 2-0 win against Wales.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Saturday: Another brilliant 2-0 victory over Scotland.🇮🇪 Sunday: Capping off the weekend with a dominant 4-0 win against Ireland.When checking out the team photo below, you can spot Martin standing out proud—he is the fourth from the left on the front row! 📸👇The season doesn't stop here for Martin. 🏑 Inspirational Morning for Our Young Stars! 🏑The Newport Hockey Club U8s and U10s mixed teams had a fantastic time participating in the Shrewsbury School Restart Africa Charity Social Action Festival! 🌟
Both teams displayed incredible form on the pitch, enjoying a morning packed full of hockey matches. Their hard work was rewarded afterward with a well-deserved, belly-busting BBQ—all while supporting an amazing cause. 🍔🔥The club is incredibly proud to support this initiative. A huge well done goes out to all of our young players who took part, and a massive thank you to everyone who organised such a brilliant event!
