We pride ourselves on our hospitalty and an all round shooting experience. Wrekin Sporting Ltd is owned and run by Jonathan Crow who has been providing driven game shooting on Estates in Shropshire for over twenty years. Our home shoot is based at Wappenshall which lies just outside Telford in East Shropshire, a short distance from the large hill known as The Wrekin. The Wappenshall Shoot is made
up of land from several farms which in turn originated as part of three Estates; The Duke of Sutherland’s Lilleshall Estate which was a winter retreat set out for game shooting in the 19th Century, The Charlton Meyrick’s Apley Estate which retained a functioning pheasant shoot until the early 1980’s and the Eyton Estate over which there has always been a successful shoot. The present makeup of the shoot evokes the glory days of driven partridge shooting; small fields and high hedges with coveys bursting in different directions testing the confidence and ability of guns. Our pheasant drives are from woodland and cover crops which show the birds at their finest. Almost uniquely the shoot offers guns the chance to shoot Grey Partridges, which are guaranteed to test the most confident of guns. The mainstay of the sport is Red-legged Partridges which are shown from banks and high hedges. Our Chinese Pheasants have a reputation for superb high flying, and make an appearance throughout the shoot. There are several stretches of disused canals and pools which provide habitat for Wild Duck and Teal. It is rare to see Woodcock here but on some of the lower ground on the Weald Moors there can be stunning driven Snipe. We offer a varied and truly memorable shooting experience.
