Glory Kickboxing Double Champ, Chico Kwasi signing the gym wall after a phenomenal seminar. It’s going to be a thing now I think. What a pleasure to have him at our gym! Took a team to Holland to train early in year, now bringing the best in Holland to Telford! Who signs the wall next? 👀

Awarding Deshawn and Molli their Black Belts and celebrating the journey it took to get there. 🥋

These two have been outstanding role models and leaders, setting the standard through years of hard work, consistency and commitment. Their dedication has helped inspire the next generation, with several students now following the path they have helped create and aiming for their own black belts over the next 18 months. 😎

Black belts aren’t given — they’re earned. Congratulations, Deshawn and Molli. A huge achievement and one that will inspire many others to come. 👏🔥

My son Sebastian (9) – and future Bai Lang Chief Instructor, according to what he told his school during Careers Week this week 😄 – casually sparring with two-weight World Champion

What an incredible experience for him to train with, spar with, and later sit down and eat with one of his favourite fighters. Moments like these create memories that last a lifetime and inspire the next generation.

Proud of you, Seb 👊🐺

A week ago today, we awarded these two students their Black Belts.

By maintaining high standards at every level, each belt remains something truly meaningful for both the student and their family. The Black Belt itself represents years of commitment, focus, sacrifice, dedication, and a willingness to continually step outside of their comfort zone.

With both families there to watch and celebrate, it was a proud and memorable moment for everyone involved. Achievements like this are never given — they are earned through consistent hard work, perseverance, and seeing the journey through to the end. 🖤🥋

Our 7-11yr old ‘Wolf Pack’ kickboxing class working on the Superman Punch. Great fun working on it as always but also very effective at the right times

We had an Easter Fun Camp over Easter, during which kids designed a pair of Bai Lang boxing gloves. Winner would have them made into sets we then sell as limited edition. The winner was Daisi with these cherry blossom designed gloves 😎

After 7 years, we finally awarded two new Black Belts at Bai Lang Kickboxing Academy.

Black Belts are not given here — they are earned.

In an age where many people struggle to see things through, these two young people have done exactly that. Through years of focus, consistency, hard work and perseverance, they have reached a standard worthy of wearing the belt.

More importantly, they have inspired those coming behind them. Several students are now within the next 12-24 months of their own Black Belt journeys, and seeing role models like these proves what is possible.

The test itself is designed to push candidates physically and mentally.

It begins with a run up The Wrekin, aiming for a sub-20-minute time. Deshawn managed an incredible 16 minutes 40 seconds 😮

From there it was straight into 15 minutes of hard fitness work before demonstrating all technical aspects of kickboxing — defence, counters, movement, boxing, kicking and combinations.

They then completed 12 rounds of high-intensity sparring, with both myself and Henry, who came home from RAF training for the weekend to help put them through their paces. This was followed by a brutal 2-on-1 sparring round where the objective was simple… keep moving.

Finally came the dreaded burpee relay — 210 burpees to finish.

Molli Marson (17) has been with Bai Lang for over seven years, having started martial arts at just four years old. Already a Black Belt from her previous club, she arrived as a talented fighter with a fantastic attitude.

What has impressed me most is how coachable she has been. She embraced our way of doing things, made changes and continued to develop. Today she is a three-time World Champion, multiple World gold medallist and Bai Lang’s first apprentice.

Deshawn (16) started from scratch over eight years ago. He is genuinely one of the most attentive students I have had this decade. I honestly cannot remember ever needing to tell him to focus or stop messing around.

He listens, learns and gives everything he has, even on days he hasn’t felt his best. During lockdown he never missed our online sessions and has always put extra work in at home.

Today he is an England Team member, multiple World gold medallist and now sets his sights on this weekend, where he will challenge for the ISKA English K1 Championship.

He also hopes to become Bai Lang’s second apprentice.

These two represent everything martial arts should be about.

Commitment. Resilience. Determination. Consistency.

Many people have come and gone over the years, but they stayed.

They have grown into two formidable young adults with a work ethic that will put them first in line for anything they choose to pursue in life.

Super proud coach moment.

Congratulations, Molli and Deshawn. 🥋🐺❤️

Yesterday we had one of the best seminars you could ask for, having come all the way from in Holland 🇳🇱 to deliver a fantastic elite level kickboxing seminar.

Chico is not just a World Champion but a 2 weight World Champion, amongst is other World title belts and victories. Having recently beat the seemingly unbeatable and legendary Donovan Wisse.

The magnitude of having some of this level here in Telford is phenomenal, and both me and all the full room of 40 members that took park had a fantastic time taking in some unorthodox ‘Chico’ style techniques.

We can’t wait to work on having him over again 🥊😎
