🏏SATURDAY RESULTS🏏

A great Saturday for our sides today, as the 1’s picked up vital points against Shrewsbury, and the 2’s got their first win of the season at Hodnet & Peplow.

The 1’s batted first in a game reduced to 40 overs apiece. Despite a couple of early wickets falling, and a middle-order collapse, a rebuilding knock from Oli Davis (Connected Counselling) dragged the side to 101-7. Then it was over to Shahzaib and Dan Bowdler to pile on a vital 72-run partnership to push us to 173-8, before a cameo from Rodney Dunn (DC Electrical) saw us to a strong 218. In defence, a strong display in the field saw us take regular wickets and manage the run rate well, which kept us ahead of the game. Wickets from Basim Ahmed and Salim Ahmed, as well as a first for Anil Kumar saw us bowl Shrewsbury out for 159 with the final ball of the innings. Well done to Shahzaib for his Man of the Match performance.

Away at Hodnet & Peplow, the 2’s fielded first, bowling the hosts out for 160. 3 wickets from Ciaran Hendrick (Bulbs & Ball C***s) as well as braces for Raffay Bhatti, Sam Davis (Connected Counselling), and Mo Badurdeen meant they were the pick of the bowlers. The 2’s were able to chase it down with 2.5 overs remaining, thanks to a match-winning 80* from Suman Yokeswaran, supported by a battling innings against the new ball from Jack Loftus (Fabweld Steel Products). Well done to Suman for his Man of the Match performance.
