💡 A little heat can go a long way.
Training challenges the body, but recovery is where the fitness adaptations take place. Sauna use and heat exposure elevate your heart rate and increases blood circulation, helping to deliver oxygen and nutrients to your muscles. The heat also stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system, effectively helping the body shift from a stressed 'fight or flight' state into a more relaxed recovery mode. While it won't replace good sleep, nutrition and movement, sauna sessions can be an incredibly valuable tool to promote both physical and mental unwinding after demanding days.
Recover well, perform better.
Today's Action; 10-Minute Reset
- After today's session or busy day at work, spend 10 minutes in the sauna.
- During the 10 minutes, aim to finish the contents of your waterbottle to maximise the recovery benefits.
- BONUS - Upon finishing, refill your water bottle and continue sipping for the next hour to replenish any lost fluids limiting recovery.
Recovery is intentional and isn't always passive. Speak with our PTs to learn how strategies like sauna can be structured into your weekly schedule.
