We know there’s a lot of debate about babies going underwater and we completely understand why parents might question it 💙

At Swimkidz, safety and trust are our top priorities. That’s why we never force a baby underwater. Every activity is gentle, controlled, and fully aligned with how babies naturally respond to water.

Babies are born with protective reflexes like the gag reflex that stop them from swallowing or inhaling water. This is a normal, healthy part of their development, not a sign of fear or defiance. We thought we would share a little bit of our knowledge here but you can learn more in our lessons 💙

This Swimkid of the week goes to Maeve!!

This weeks one was actually nominated by her cover teacher, Charlotte AND her normal teacher Kirsty... here is what they had to say...

“Kirsty -
Maeve is such a happy little girl and I love teaching her. When she first started with me, Maeve was very wary of having water on her face and heavily relied on Mum for support and I would always adapt the lesson to allow Maeve to build her confidence. I've been off for a few weeks after having surgery and couldn't believe it when Charlotte called me today to tell me that Maeve not only jumped in all by herself, but she also had her face in the water while swimming. Maeve, I am so so proud of you! I can't wait to see you next week!!

It was my first time meeting Maeve today and the whole class was an absolute joy to teach, every child and parent were so welcoming to me as a cover teacher and all the children were so happy & confident. It wasn’t until Maeve's mummy said to me that I wouldn’t believe Maeve's swimming if I was her normal teacher because she never swims like this! She jumped in without being held onto, she put her face in the water, she was full of confidence diving off the mat and all round was just so happy. I never would have guessed that she wouldn’t have done these things the week before! I called kirsty after teaching and she was so thrilled so we decided to make Maeve Swimkid of the week!”
