Gear up. Lessons are back on the menu.

After our open sessions and gradings to catch up with some lessons, learn new skills not on the curriculum and otherwise just turn up for sparring.

We also have our next club invite day coming up on October 17th including our next taster class of the year!

If you want to come over send us a DM and those on the reserve list for the taster will be getting a message in the coming days.

The new boffers are proving to be a fun addition in the heat!

This week we took a focus on the fitness side of things with multiple skill stations to complete in a circuit. It was tough going, 6 started, 4 survived.

But

Then is was a chill few hours with some geared sparring, some play practice and some bo***ng!

The sessions before last we had a great lesson from Sir John teaching us a few more technical options with winding and binding.

Using the Zornhaw from the beginners course as a springboard unto this next level of intricacies in swordsmanship.

The session just gone we had an equally enlightening discovery of distance possibilities and distance management from Sir Perry

Likewise taking the basic footwork from the beginners course and showing us how to apply it when facing something pointy.

A huge thank you to everyone that visited us yesterday!

Those other fencers from distant clubs and to everybody new to HEMA that came along for the taster.

The day turned into a bit of an open day! Which was fantastic. We shared skills with other clubs and had a play with other HEMA disciplines from small pointy things to very long pointy things.

Even in the heat we had a blast and we are very much looking forward to the next one in October

Only two spaces remain for our Longsword Taster class this Saturday!!!

Class starts at 1.30 pm (so be a little early) and bring activewear as well as water. You'll be getting hands on with the training historical light sabres (we don't think facebook likes the 'S' word).

Please note you must be over 18.

It was luuuuuvly to have A/C ❄️

Lesson 2 came a bit earlier in the syllabus due to a temporary venue change. We had a stab at targeted sparring to help fencers practice defending their weak spots whilst having a task to complete.

Everyone got stuck in and again it was great to see member to member coaching and discussions taking place.

Next session (May 30th) we are back in the sports hall with our Club Invites. If you're reading this from another club...take it as your invite to come along

We are also having an impromptu Taster Lesson to anyone over the age of 18. We are currently going through the waiting list but if any spaces open up we will announce it on our socials!

Ser Perry kicked us off with the first intermediate lesson of the year.

We took the concepts of Vor, Nach and Nachrissen further and into more depth. Spending an entire lesson on just these concepts.

Taking the whole lesson meant we could really focus and break down into various drills demonstrating the advantage of the Vor and winning back the Nach.

We rounded off by introducing an Olympic Fencing ruleset sparring to amplify the concepts more against an uncooperative opponent.
