TAC Weekly Shout Out 💚

This week was our Thetford parkrun takeover, with TAC members filling many of the volunteer roles alongside the fantastic regular volunteer team. We also added a team of pacers to help runners chase their goals.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to volunteer—you helped make another brilliant parkrun happen.

A special shout out to our junior Francesca, who completed the elusive parkrun Stopwatch Bingo challenge. What a fantastic achievement! 🎉
Fields & Forest Ultra

Keeping the ultra bug alive, Mike, Becky and Kelly took on the Fields & Forest Ultra—a challenging 34-mile mixed terrain race around Bardwell.

Massive congratulations to all three! And judging by the photo, Becky and Kelly looked more like they were heading for afternoon tea than finishing an ultra… but seriously, you’re all incredible. 👏🏅

TAC Parkrun & Weekend Shout Out 🖤💛

Another fantastic Saturday for TAC, with 28 members taking part across 7 parkrun events: Brandon Country Park, Brook Leys, Dereham, Hunstanton Promenade, Mildenhall Hub, Thetford and West Stow Country Park.

A special well done to everyone who earned podium finishes this weekend—brilliant running all round! 🏅

Away from parkrun, congratulations to Dave A for completing the Zig Zag Running Peacock Plod Trail Half Marathon. Great effort on the trails! 🌿

And don't go too far… later this week we'll have all the highlights from TAC's Round Norfolk Relay adventure! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

August proved to be a quieter month in the heavy throws calendar, with the athletics season beginning to draw to a close. Leon took the opportunity to compete at the Bournemouth AC Open Meeting.

Following the long journey to Bournemouth, Leon continued his stellar season with an excellent winning throw of 59.35m with the 4kg hammer.

The throw not only secured victory in his event, but was also the furthest throw of the day across all the hammer competitions.

The performance further underlines Leon’s position in the Power of 10 rankings, confirming him as one of the leading young hammer throwers in his age category in the UK.

🏃‍♀️ TAC Run Norwich Shoutout 🏃‍♂️

Today was one of the biggest events in the Norfolk running calendar – Run Norwich!

This isn't your average local 10K. With over 8,000 runners taking to the closed streets of Norwich, it's an incredible atmosphere from start to finish.

Thetford AC was proudly represented by 27 members, alongside our fantastic supporters and volunteers. A huge well done to everyone who pulled on their club vest, chased their goals, and ticked off another brilliant race:

🟢 TAC Parkrun Shout Out 🟢

Another fantastic Saturday for TAC, with 39 members taking on 11 different parkrun events!

From Bognor Regis to Brandon Country Park, Eaton Park, Gorleston Cliffs, Huntingdon, King's Lynn, Loch Neaton, Mildenhall Hub, Norwich, and of course our home event in Thetford, our club members were everywhere.

A huge congratulations to everyone who claimed podium finishes this weekend!
Special shout outs go to:

🏅 Rex S – our brilliant junior finished 9th overall at Mildenhall Hub and was 1st in his age category. What a run!

🎉 Corrina T – an incredible 300th parkrun milestone. Amazing dedication and a fantastic achievement!

⭐ Kate M – achieving her best age grade since February 2023. A brilliant reward for all your hard work.

Well done to each and every one of you. Whether you were chasing a PB, a milestone, or simply enjoying the Saturday morning community, getting out there and smashing your own goals is truly amazing. 💙🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🌟 TAC Weekly Race Shoutout 🌟

It's been a very quiet week on the racing front — maybe everyone's making the most of the last of the summer break! ☀️

We had members taking on two very different races this weekend...

🦁 Race the Animals 5K – Africa Alive

Chris L, Collette G and junior member Rex S took on this unique 5K. Don't worry... the animals stayed safely in their enclosures, and our runners got to enjoy seeing them after the race!

A special shoutout to Chris, who finished 2nd in his age category. The frustrating part? 1st place was just 2 seconds ahead, and Chris actually watched him overtake in the closing stages! No trophies given out, maybe in your next race Chris.

🏃 Lowestoft Scores

On Sunday, Helen A headed to Lowestoft to conquer one of the toughest local races around. The Lowestoft Scores covers approximately 4.75 miles, tackling 13 steep stepped and sloping scores with a whopping 401 steps along the way.
Helen absolutely smashed it, finishing 6½ minutes quicker than when she last raced it in 2022. An incredible improvement on a seriously challenging course — well done, Helen! 💪

Another fantastic Sunday morning of Junior Parkrun adventures from our brilliant TAC Juniors! Huge well done to everyone who took part, gave it their all and supported one another! 💪👏

📍 Mildenhall Hub

🥇 Spencer – What a debut! Completing the course for the very first time and taking 1st place! 🤩

An incredible time of 7:20 and a shiny new PB to top it all off! 🚀🔥 What a way to introduce yourself to the course!

📍 Breckland Leisure Centre

🌟 Erica – Back in the top 10 once again, finishing in an amazing 6th place with a speedy 9:52! Consistency queen! 👑👏

🔟 Matilda – Another top-10 finish, crossing the line in a fantastic 10:42! Brilliant running! 🌟👏

💨 Bonnie – Flew around the course in a speedy 11:50, making it look easy as she sprinted around! Someone check whether she was wearing rocket boosters! 🚀😄

👏 Francesca – Joined her sister on the course and completed her Sunday Junior Parkrun. Well done, Francesca! 🌟

🌟 TAC Weekly parkrun Shout Out 🌟

We absolutely love seeing our members flying the TAC colours at parkruns—not just locally, but as parkrun tourists too! This week we've had runners taking on events across England, Ireland and even Sweden. 🇬🇧🇮🇪🇸🇪

A huge shoutout goes to one of our juniors, Spencer, who smashed his PB at Norwich and finally achieved his long-awaited sub-20 minute goal. What an incredible milestone—well done! 👏💥

Our parkrun tourists were out in force too, with a group heading to Poolbeg in Dublin, while three members enjoyed Ribersborg parkrun in Malmö, Sweden.

Closer to home, we celebrated podium finishes at both Brandon and Thetford, with fantastic performances from our runners, and it was great to see both junior and senior members represented at Alton Water, Brandon, Mildenhall Hub and our home parkrun at Thetford.

Wherever you ran and whatever time was on the clock, we're proud of every single TAC member for getting out there, supporting one another, and sharing your love of running and parkrun.
