BULLS REMAIN UNBEATEN

Yesterday Uplowman faced Whipton & Pinhoe in our fourth league game of the season.

The game started well for Uplowman showing lots of threat down both wings but failing to punish their opponents goal. Steven Grant (JCT COLLECTABLES) rifled home the opener with his first goal of the season to see us lead 1-0 up at the break.

2nd half began and we didn’t wait long to make it 2-0, Harry Jee (ANR ELECTRICAL) headed home to get our second. Unfortunately we couldn’t kill the game off and Whipton returned with a deflected free kick and a goal directly from a corner in the dying seconds of the game. A hard lesson to learn for the boys but one we will take into the future as we continue to fight on.

THE BULLS STAY TOP!

Yesterday we faced Millwey Rise a side we were promoted with last season and the team that sat 2nd in the table before our game. (With 2 wins from 2 we were top). After last seasons clashes we knew we'd have to be at our best to get all 3 points at our sacred ground.

We started the game brightly boasting good spells of possession as we tried to settle into the game. Club legend Chris White (Orchard & Bolt) did what he does best as he got on the end of a pass inside the box and slotted away to put us 1 up. Not long after Harry Gozna (Thomas & Carter) took a free kick from 35 yards which rocketed off the crossbar into the path of Chrissy who slotted his second of the game.
Half time 2-0.

Defensively we were excellent, our back 4 looked on top form but Millwey continued to threaten our goal. Our keeper Fred Hope (Sent from Devon digital marketing) kept us in the game by displaying some excellent saves and coming off his line brilliantly to halt chances. We weren't done attacking ourselves and tried to push for a third goal but after rocking their crossbar twice we couldn't do it.

All in all a brilliant game and a fantastic result for this club as we stay top for another week!

BULLS BATTLE FOR 3 POINTS

Yesterday we faced a strong Cheriton Fitzpaine side who travelled to Uplowman to try and stop our win streak.

First half was a hotly contested match up, both teams attacking and defending to a good level but not effecting the score line, Until from a corner the ball fell to Wilf Burns-Cox (Pests Off) who just outside the box struck the ball first time and rifled it in to the back of the net. Uplowman lead going into half time.

Second half the back and forth action resumed a lapse in concentration at the back saw Cheriton grab one back. The rest of the game was coming down to who wanted it more, the bulls showed their willing. Uplowman began to string together attack after attack but couldn’t break through, until Adam Cumes (M.W. Greenslade Plumbing & Heating LTD) who was shining at centre back found himself on the right wing, delivering a lovely cross that Sam Jee (Momma Jee) clinically slotted away with a great finish! 2-1 to Uplowman.

With some brilliant defending and more attacks which we couldn’t put away that was the final scoreline. A really hard fought 3 points but once again my boys showed our brilliant resilience and commitment to winning with a result to be proud of.

DELIGHTFUL DOZEN FOR THE BULLS SEASON OPENER

Uplowman are back and raring to go, we made the journey to Minster Park, a pitch where we’ve had good fortune in the past winning 2 cup finals here. The good fortune continued as we put on a relentless display from start to finish.

Uplowman found themselves 1-0 as Wilf Burns-Cox (Pests Off) slotted home the opener. The big man up top Harry Jee (ANR ELECTRICAL) finished cooly for his first. Wilf was shortly after hacked down in the box and Harry Jee got his second from the spot. Next up Charlie Cornish’s (REDWOODS INN) hard work was rewarded as he got his first of the with a lovely finish, shortly after Toby Marshall (KINGDOM AUTOMOTIVE) joined the party using his great pace in behind and finishing well past the keeper. The goal of the day was probably Charlie Cornish’s second which he rocketed top corner leaving the keeper no chance.

HALF TIME 6-0

Second half started with a lot of missed chances which really could have seen us even further ahead - not to be negative on a day like this or anything. Next up the most controversial goal, some saying own goal some saying Joe Greenslade expertly turned his back into a rebounded shot, as it gives me an excuse to shout out his sponsor DAVE TRAVERS FINANCIAL SERVICES, I’m happy to count it as .5 his goal. Harry Jee completed his hat trick to make it 8-0 and and at this point I’m really losing track of which goal was which so I assume it was a really good finish. Wilf got his second of the game as the ball was squared to him to make it 9-0. Joe Greenslade (Jeeners to his teammates) (David Travers Financial Services once again) then scored a goal that was definitely his as he slotted home from a corner. The next 2 goals I remember quite well as the manager Isaac Reed (JCT COLLECTABLES) came on and was generously squared to by Charlie Cornish to get his first. 2 minutes later his shot from edge of box found the bottom corner to make it 12-0. and breath.

25/26 COMPLETE✅

As the season draws to and end I’d like to take this time to thank the people who help make it possible to continue to create great times with this great club.

We’d like to thank every one who has supported us along the way this season, the parents, locals & die hard followers of the club all push us to keep putting in that extra bit of effort for Uplowman. This year we did our first fundraiser for the club and the support we received from the local community was such a shot in the arm for this club. In a time where it’s so hard to keep grass roots football afloat your support is thoroughly appreciated.

SO NICE WE HAD TO DO IT TWICE!!!!

Uplowman United are champions again! With a performance to be proud of from every single person involved.

Today we faced our old rival North Tawton in The Football Express Cup final. It was a hard fought contest with both sides showing their quality but ultimately the bulls brought it home again.

We started the game a bit off the boil and found ourselves 1-0 down at half time through North Tawton’s persistent pressing.

It didn’t take long for Uplowman to respond once the second half began, we showed some brilliant play on the counter Toby Marshall (Jean & John Lister) recieved a delightful through ball from Adam Cumes (Jean & John Lister) and beat a few men before squaring it to his wide partner Wilf Burns-Cox who (Pests Off) who slotted home the equaliser.

The game turned into a neutrals delight with both sides attacking eachother but Uplowman’s defence earned their plaudits boasting excellent quality when called upon. Some subs were made within the second half drinks break and Toby Marshall then lead the attack up top. He recieved a lovely pass from a fresh Charlie Cornish (Redwoods Inn) and beat the keeper in lovely fashion to put us 2-1 up. Fred Hope (Dirty Old Goat Soap Co) was then called upon and tipped a shot onto the crossbar, North Tawton weren’t going to make this easy.

Finally through his excellent work rate and outstanding quality Toby Marshall dispossessed the North Tawton defender and slotted home in a cool fashion to see the cup come home with the holders once again. 3-1.

The manager is incredibly proud of each and every one of his players who have gave their all through this cup run. It is a pleasure to be in charge of these boys who time and time again show their resilience and quality, 3 trophies in 3 seasons for this brilliant group of lads with hopefully more to come in the future 🫶

THIS SATURDAY - THE BIG FINAL - UPLOWMAN VS NORTH TAWTON

Our season ends in a cup final this Saturday at Minster Park Exminster EX6 8SP. Gates open at 2 for a 2:30 Kick Off.

Come along, cheer on the bulls and give them that boost to help get them over the line!

THE BULLS MARCH ON TO ANOTHER FINAL

Yesterday Uplowman had their semi final tie of The Football Express Cup vs Cheriton Fitzpaine. As the current holders of the cup, our hopes were on reaching the final once again, but we knew we were in for a tough battle with an inform side standing in our way.

The game began with a back and forth start with neither team showing dominance. Just before the 20 minute mark Harry Jee (Kingdom automotive) played a piercing pass which saw Wilf Burns-Cox (Pests Off) through on goal, Wilf who has been in a fine vein of form in recent appearance slotted the opener home. Cheriton kept us honest and forced some hard work from our defence to keep our sheet clean going into halftime.

Second half began and Uplowman found another gear, The midfield began knocking the ball around with much more conviction. Joe Greenslade (T&G Engineering) took a touch over the defenders head before executing a delightful over head kick to put us 2 up. He described his acrobatic effort as “business as usual.” Our final goal of the half came from our top scorer, Toby Marshall (Jean&John Lister) got on the end of another Harry Jee pass and cooly found the back of the net. 3-0 Uplowman.

Cheriton continued to threaten but could only settle for 1 consolation goal which saw Uplowman reach the final of their beloved cup once more.

We face old rivals North Tawton in the final with the date and venue yet to be announced and call upon our loyal following to come support us in the final and try get the boys over the line once again.
