Blundell's School

Blundell's School Peter Blundell was one of the wealthiest merchants of Elizabethan, England and died in 1601.

Blundell’s is a dynamic independent school set in the Devon countryside, inspiring pupils to achieve their potential through academic excellence, co-curricular opportunity and strong pastoral care. In his will he left money and lands to help found a school in his home town in his hope to help maintain “sound learning and true religion.” Since its creation in 1604 Blundell’s continues to be a strong school both in terms of academics and sporting achievements and takes great honour in producing Old Boys and Girls that continue through life upholding Blundell’s values.

Well done to all the Blundell’s pupils who took part in our Homeless Sleepout at Tiverton Football Ground, spending the night without the home comforts we so often take for granted while raising money for CHAT.

Throughout the evening, the CHAT team led activities exploring the realities of homelessness, the support available, who can be affected and just how difficult it can be to move forward without a fixed address.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, raised money and embraced the opportunity to learn more, develop empathy and support an important local charity. ❤️

Last Thursday, our Scholar Art Club headed to The White Room in Crediton as part of Devon Open Studios 🎨

Pupils explored an exhibition featuring work by a range of local artists, met some of the exhibitors and had the chance to ask questions about their work, ideas and creative processes.

A brilliant opportunity to support Devon Open Studios, experience high-quality artwork first-hand and gain inspiration from practising artists.

We’re excited to welcome Lions Sports Academy back to Blundell’s for another fantastic Easter of rugby, development and fun!

From 6–8 April 2027, girls aged 9–16 can enjoy three unforgettable days and two nights of rugby, with expert coaching, high-class facilities, evening activities and the chance to learn from professional players.

Get ready for three days of athletic development, performance training and expert coaching at Blundell’s this October!

Designed for athletes aged 12–18, the camp will combine strength and conditioning, sport science and performance coaching, alongside daily multi-sport activities. All sports and all abilities welcome.

A huge thank you to Heathcoat Fabrics Factory and Charity for coming in this week to speak to our BTEC Business pupils about your organisations.

As part of their BTEC coursework, pupils need to research and write about real organisations, and your presentations really brought the course to life for them.

Having the opportunity to hear directly from people involved in both organisations has given them so much valuable information, real-life examples and inspiration to take back into their coursework.

Our OB Sports Weekend was Blundell’s at its absolute best: exceptional sport, old friendships rekindled, new connections made, plenty of rivalry and that unmistakable feeling of coming home.

From rugby, hockey, netball and tennis to fives and rifle shooting, the school was buzzing from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. We reignited some old traditions, started a few new ones and welcomed an amazing mix of OBs back to Tiverton—including many of our younger OBs, who squeezed in a return visit before heading off to universities around the country.

One of the real highlights was seeing current pupils willingly give up their only free day to join the OBs, taking to the pitches and courts and competing side by side for glory. That mix of generations, united by the same school and the same spirit, is what makes Blundell’s so special.

It wasn’t just a sports weekend; it was a celebration of what it means to be a Blundellian: old friends, new memories, plenty of laughter and a school full of Blundellian energy. You can take the OB out of Blundell’s, but you can’t take the Blundell’s spirit out of the OB!

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Here’s to friendships, connections, a few pulled muscles and memories that will keep us smiling until next year!

Following record GCSE results this summer, it is an exciting time to discover more about the academic, pastoral and co-curricular opportunities available at Blundell’s.

Our preparation supports learners across all levels, from beginner to advanced, helping pupils develop their English language skills and work towards internationally recognised Cambridge English Qualifications.
