We are NDL Division One champions for the second year running! Despite falling to a 28-run defeat at Sandford, the points earned from this match were enough to confirm the title, with us finishing top of the table ahead of Bideford.

Sandford won the toss and chose to bat, and their batsmen made the most of it. Opener Jonathan James (55, 36 balls, 13 fours) got them off to a fast start, before captain Tom Gidney hit 103 retired not out off 67 balls (14 fours, 3 sixes). Andrew Fry (71, 58 balls)* added a useful partnership of 129 for the fourth wicket, and Archie Osborne (36 off 17 balls, 4 sixes) pushed the total along late on as Sandford posted 340/6.

Tom Hatton was the pick of the Heathcoat bowlers, returning figures of 3-52 from 8 overs, while Chris Salter (1-30), Jack McManus (1-28), and Jeremy Bedford (1-45) each chipped in with a wicket.

In reply, we lost early wickets to slip to 83/3, but showed the character that has defined their title-winning season. Thomas Holley led the response with 99 off 74 balls (9 fours, 6 sixes), falling just one run short of a well-deserved century. He put on 80 withJack McManus (34) and then 141 with Jeremy Bedford (73 off 51 balls, 10 fours, 1 six) — a partnership that kept Heathcoat in the contest and ensured the batting points that clinched the title.

Heathcoat finished on 312/6.

A fitting end to the season, and more importantly, a second consecutive NDL Division One title secured!

🏏 North Devon League, Division 1 finale! 🏏

Today from 1pm our NDL side take to the field at Sandford knowing the Division 1 league title is within their destiny

Going for back-to-back league titles, the team head into the game knowing that 7 points (out of 20) will be sufficient to secure the title, but of course, aiming to go out on a high with another big win

With this being the last competitive game of the summer, and the sun still shining, please do make the short trip over to Sandford to get behind HCC! ☀️

🏏 Weekend Team News 🏏

For the final weekend of the season, our team news! Firstly, 🙌🏼 THANK YOU 🙌🏼 to all our Player Sponsors this summer - from everyone who has been sponsored, we extend our thanks to all the local businesses and individuals who have sponsored a player this season, it’s been very much appreciated.

If the weather holds (big if! 🌧️ ), the 1st XI travel to North Devon looking to finish the season on a high. The 2nd XI host Exmouth at Knightshayes and the 3rd XI travel to Clyst Hydon.

🍻 As it is the last Saturday of the season, come rain or shine, the bar at Knighthsyes will be open, and we have plenty of stock to sell! So consider it doing HCC a favour and head to the ground for a pint (or three!)🍻

🚨On Sunday it’s the big one - the Tiverton Ashes as Heathcoat CC play Tiverton Rugby Club from 1pm - Come down and support what is always a brilliant afternoon.🚨

🏏 Heathcoat CC Ladies Softball Cricket Team 🏏

And in a flash the 2026 season comes to an end. Thank you and well done to everyone that played and trained this season.

Our ladies were fantastic and we finished 5th, one point off 4th!

This summer we managed to play all our games, winning 2, losing 7 and one walk over due to the opposition not getting a team.

We used 18 players in total across the season which is amazing and shows how far we have come in a couple of years.

Ladies softball training will start up again in early spring 2027, however if you would like more information on how to get involved now, please reach out to Kayleigh Parkes or Rob Venn, or drop us a message via social media 🙌🏼

📅 What’s on at HCC 📅

For the final time this season, we have a packed week of cricket (and for possible the first time this season, weather dependent!)

Saturday is the final week in the Devon Cricket League, as our 2nd XI host Exmouth at Knightshayes from 1pm!

On Sunday, if the weather holds, we host our annual Ashes Fixture - Heathcoat CC vs Tiverton RFC! As always, this promises to be a fantastic event with both sides playing for bragging rights and the Tiverton Ashes!

Three teams play tomorrow in the penultimate week of the Devon Cricket League!

The 1st XI host Ivybridge from 12.30pm looking to secure third place in the A Division. We are also hosting our annual Sponsors Day at Knightshayes to thank all our incredible club sponsors tomorrow and we cannot wait to welcome them all to the ground!

The 2nd XI travel to Ottery St Mary and the 3rd XI host Chudleigh at Whitnage Road both from 1pm

On Sunday the NDL team travel to Bridestowe and Belstone knowing that a win gives them one hand on the league trophy!

🥎 Heathcoat v Exeter ladies softball 🥎

Heathcoat Softball girls enjoyed victory versus Exeter softball ladies last night at Sampford Peverell!

Having lost the recent games by a small margin the girls were keen to get the win on the board and everyone played brilliantly.

Electing to field, HCC bowled tightly with A. Hills picking up an early wicket, that set the tone as tight bowling from everyone, good fielding and catching restricted Exeter to 87-5 from their 16 overs.

In reply some sensible batting ensuring wickets were not lost was as the ladies started to build a total throughout their partnerships, Esther, Jackie, Anna, and Caitlin all crunching the ball to the boundary. It was captain Lauren Mildren who brought the game home with 26* including 4 boundaries in fading light and very heavy rain!

Great performances all round as the girls look to close out the season with their remaining two games Bs Thorverton and Exeter again. Well done ladies!
