MEET THE MEMBERS

For May, it’s time to meet Steve! Steve only joined the club in 2023 but took absolutely no time making his mark with 3 trips to the honours boards in 3 years. So it’s no wonder he’s never bowled a wrong bias!

His order at the bar is a Tea or a Diet Coke and he’s a name you don’t wanna see next to yours in the draw (unless it’s pairs!). He has aspirations of making it to the National Finals at Leamington Spa and we’d love to see him there too! One day, we might even lure him onto the committee.

All the best for the season Steve!

SEVENOAKS LEAGUE - GAMEWEEK 2

It was another good week for TBC in the Sevenoaks league with 2 of our teams taking another maximum 6 pts. Tonbridge stay top of Div 1 and Priory extend their lead at the top of Div 3. Both teams with a maximum 12 from 12.

Longmead took 4 points off Montreal Park and Angel unfortunately gave up 6 points to Hadlow.

Still very early days and all to play for in both divisions. Onto the next!

A post match snap after a weekend fixture with Bayham & Lamberhurst. A quick drink with the opposition at

Can’t tell from the faces which team won or lost. That’s gotta be a good thing?

Stumbled across this walking round Edinburgh today.

George Mackay’s Bowling Green Bowl Maker. Turns out it was one of the last remaining wooden bowls makers and repairers in the UK.

A beautiful building tucked away in Edinburgh’s old town. I wonder how many champions woods passed through this incredible place.

The Sevenoaks League got underway on Friday night and it was points on the board for all 4 TBC teams.

For those who don’t know (me until last night and I was playing) here’s the format.
1 team = 6 players over 2 rinks (aka Triples)
2 points for each rink win
2 extra points for overall win (combined rink scores)
In total, 6 points up for grabs.

In Division One, Tonbridge walked away with all 6 points and a healthy shot difference to boot. Longmead and Angel both pick up a rink with for 2 points, with Angel only a couple shots away from a full 6.

In Division Three, Priory made a great start to their promotion campaign with a full 6 points away to Wolfe at Westerham. This included a club debut for a surprisingly handsome social media admin.

Well done all, and onto the next one!

Results Round Up - Friendlies

The season is well underway at Tonbridge Bowling Club with matches most weekends. Sevenoaks League has also kicked off, with updates to follow. But here’s a quick round up of club friendlies.

There’s also Knockholt (a) today and Millennium League (h) tomorrow if you fancy taking in a match from the sidelines.

Holmesdale (H) -ish
After some sitcom level sounding confusing about the venue, the game eventually took place at home. Each club won two rinks, with Capt Dave breaking his duck but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

Chatham (a)
A closely contested friendly, with TBC winning on 3 rinks. There was an impressive debut from Anthony Hines, who contributed to a first club friendly win of the season.

Maidstone (a)
Our first official home game of the season (after HolmesdaleGate) and a first outing as matchday captain for the Ladies Vice-Captain, Carol Hain. She didn’t mess about and secured a convincing win on her rink. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to bag the overall win as we took a heavy defeat on Rink 4.

The first friendly of the season resulted in a draw against Hadlow Bowls Club A great day in the sunshine and quite evidently a very evenly matched affair.

There were debuts for Dave Poole and Austin Battell, with Dave only having his first ever outdoor roll up the night before. Also special mention to Joan Kemsley who competed having not even had a roll up yet this season, and put in a strong performance to boot.

Holmesdale (A) results to follow and next up is Chatham (A) tomorrow afternoon in another friendly.
