So we have our wish and have managed to get 10 holes open. Play today from the 6th to the 14th and then play the last. No buggies or electric trolleys allowed, but pull trolleys are OK.
In going to and from these holes please go nowhere near holes 1 to 4 or 16 as these areas remain extremely wet and in places hazardous. Take great caution crossing the 17th which is also very boggy.
Overhead conditions are currently not good, but the forecast suggests this will improve as the day progresses. Sadly tomorrow's forecast currently looks horrid

A friendly, welcoming golf cub in the heart of the English Riviera
A fine parkland course with stunning sea and moor views
A superb parkland golf course in the heart of the English Riviera, with a superb, highly social set of members from every walk of life
So we're hoping to get some golf being played over the next couple of days. We've taken a look at a very, very wet golf course and are watching the forecast very carefully but think there may be a chance of 10 holes in play tomorrow (Tuesday). We will make the decision on that for 8.30 in the morning, so do keep an eye/ear on the course line and our various social media outlets
Sorry to say that after more than an inch of rainfall in the last couple of days onto an already sodden golf course we're closed today.
Sadly the forecast for the next 48 hours isn't going to be very helpful (depsite the fact that the ol' current bun is currently burning down). More rain is forecast overnight, and Sunday looks horrid. Let's hope the forecasters have got it wrong!
It is nice to be back with a full golf course in operation and no restrictions on the use of buggys.
So we're back! Sort of. 14 holes in play throughout the day. 1-3 remain unplayable, and the 17th is out of play today for the work on the trees/hedges around the right hand side of the green. Start play from the 4th tee.
We've had a frost too, just to add to the fun. 6 temporary greens at the moment, at holes 2, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 18. There will be a further inspection once the sun has had a chance to get at those greens and I'm optimistic we'll get them back in play as the morning wears on
Sorry to say we remain a victim of the weather today, and are closed. In his early morning tweet Jason said we need 24 hours of dry weather to be ready for golf, and the continual heavy rain every 12 hours or so is giving us no chance - more again overnight last night.
Keep your fingers crosed for a really blustery and above all dry day
Sorry to say, everyone, the dreadful overnight weather has done for us today. We won't be able to open the course. Somewhat ironically the greens have actually held up pretty well - getting to them is the issue. The remainder of the course, especially the traffic areas where golfers walk the most, is incredibly wet, treacherous and unsafe.
Upside is the strength of the wind, which will help dry us out for the rest of the weekend. Downside is the forecast of more rain, overnight tonight and overnight tomorrow night in particular. Fingers crossed it isn't too heavy.
We have a certain amount of tree damage, with some limbs down and a piece off one of the trees in the leylandii copse right of 10. In the second week of January we are doing some work to the leylandii on the boundary by the 17th green and will have a chipper in then, so we'll sort this damage at that point.

Had some issues getting these photos up after the Bottle Comp last week, and nothing to do with consuming the contents of said bottles either!
So a little belatedly we offer you a montage of winners. First with the skip we have Kevin Gaskell, winner of the replayed Birmingham Cup. Then there is Nick Powell to the left, Richard Overton to the right, the runner-up and winner of the season-long Order of Merit, and lastly one half of the Poppy Competition winning pair, Neil Wreford, who triumphed in combo with Ben Fowler.
And just to be tidy the full result of the Bottle Competition as well

A cracking look to the early morning down the first today, as a little mist forms as the dew evaporates. Sun now offically bursting through. Gonna be a beaut
Here we go then. Today's 5-Club competition results. Steve Richards just beats Kim Shore on countback after both score 39 - does this make you think leaving all the armoury behaind more frequently could be a good shout? Very well played gentlemen, excellent stuff.
38s for Fred Pethard and Pete Maunder. 37 for Mark Stephenson and 36 for Dave Needham the other voucher winners. Presentation next Saturday after Bottle Comp
Serious mention in dispatches for Andy Thornton, Hole in One at 17. Fabulous

So here's your result from today's Team Turkey Trot and it's a corking 81 points from Wally Gray, Ian Jones and Chris Owen that tops the log.
Top 3 teams pick up the vouchers. Last one of these in the morning
