YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.
For years now I have been interested in the fact that eating different types of foods can actually contribute to getting you fitter. I would think that most if not all of our clients at Wellbeing Fitness are interested either in losing a few pounds or at the very least stopping the pounds from accumulating! Here are a few tips that I thought you might find interesting:
1. For breakfast, try eating some melon followed by an egg. Both are full of vitamins and the egg helps to break down the carbohydrates in the melon.
2. For breakfast again, use full fat milk with your cereal but dilute it with water. You’re still getting all the natural vitamins and minerals that can be lacking in skimmed or semi-skimmed milk while the water reduces the absorption of sugar and decreases the fat intake.
3. If you eat a small bowl of muesli a couple of hours before training, it will increase the amount of fat-burning that occurs during your session. Muesli is a slow-digesting carbohydrate and is less likely to be transferred to the body as fat when training – but it still gives a good energy boost.
4. Have soup for lunch. It’s been demonstrated experimentally that soup stays in the stomach for longer, thus keeping you feeling full for longer – and therefore there’s less temptation to snack on chocolate bars in the late afternoon.
5. Try to cut down your cheese consumption. It’s one of the biggest culprits for weight gain. A thinner slice of a strong cheese in a sandwich will still give you plenty of flavour with much less fat.
6. We know that we ought to eat greens but spinach is the Number One with double the amount of fibre which helps your body to process fats more efficiently.
7. And now the good news! A daily glass of red wine (I said glass not bottle!) can stop you from putting on fat, especially round the stomach. Resveratrol from the grapes inhibits the development of fat cells around your waist. (Of course you could eat the grapes instead of the wine for a similar effect!)

I’ve had a lot of conversations with clients over the last few weeks that have suffered or are suffering with cramp more often than not. Now muscle cramps can be caused for a few reasons but one of those reasons is dehydration.
Which makes sense as to why some of you are suffering more so now than at any other time of the year, maybe that’s due to this lovely weather we’re having, you’re doing more in the garden. Maybe going abit heavier on the alcohol front, the beer gardens are calling after all. Just being outside in this weather in general and you forget to hydrate properly.
Hydration!!! Drink More Water! Drink all the water in the world isn’t always going to cut the mustard. In most cases you’ll end up taking a trip the the loo more often and potentially dehydrating yourself even more.
Now without getting too scientific about it. All you need to think about is how to hydrate more effectively. There is a key component you’re missing.
Electrolytes!!
What are they?
