Post from the Chron as Towcester bow out in style.
Due mainly to the lack of investment in football in the town over about 30 years, there will not be a menโs team next season ๐๐ป๐๐ป

Towcester Presentation Evening ๐ฅณ
A bittersweet, but great, evening in Towcester for the lads.
Award winners -
Players player (back to back ๐ฎโ๐จ) - Richie Parker
Managers Player - Patty Martin
Golden Boot - Adam Kelly (29 goals)
Young(un) Player - Harvey Sambridge
Mr Consistent - Jake Dixon
There were many other award winners, it was an incredible season, with a squad more than talented for the league it is in.
The biggest award of the night went to town legend Les Copping, picking up his clubman award. It goes much deeper than that though, it looks like being Les last season, after 12 incredible years in menโs football for Towcester. From everyone in Towcester, a huge THANK YOU to Les โค๏ธ Without you, Iโm pretty sure, the town of Towcester wouldnโt have cared less about menโs football (sadly it probably still doesnโt).

So nice, we just had to win the league twice ๐คท
Towcester won the league back to back after coming out on top against a Finedon side ringered up to the max, in what essentially to them, was a completely meaningless game ๐๐ There must be limited options for things to do on a Saturday afternoon in Finedon, I guess ๐คท
Why sides, and also why the league continue to allow, sides to play players that donโt play for them all season to play for them in certain games will always baffle us. Especially sad lads from the UCL. Maybe just stick with the lads who usually play for you and donโt be scared to play little old Towcester ๐๐ป
Anyway, we faced Finedon first team yesterday, with a couple of ressie lads and Sileby players in, and still comfortably came out on top ๐ด
Luckily for Towcester, despite a minor second half wobble, we have an unbelievable record at Finedon so yesterdayโs result was never really in doubt. We dispatched their first team 8-0 there in the 22/23 season, and also their reserve team 6-0 earlier this season.
Logan McLeod kickstarted the scoring, Finedons first team keeper misjudged a long ball from Sam Kelly, allowing Logan to tap into an empty net.
Adam Kelly made it 2 with a back post volley, following a lovely cross by Jake Dixon.
Half time 2-0.
The mini second half wobble occurred with Finedon making it 2-1 pretty much straight from kick off. Kel comfortably made it 3 from the penalty spot, before we had issues with another long throw making it 3-2 soon after.
The game was sealed though just after this with the best goal of the day. Pat stealing the ball off a Finedon (maybe Sileby) player in midfield and delivered a sensational chip into the empty net. Sexual.
Anyway, there was no way back for Finedon / Ressies / Sileby after this. Kel made it 5, for his 3rd of the day, with another back post tap in. Before Richie got his customary goal from centre half, making it 6.
Another Finedon first team player even had time to miss a second half penalty somewhere amongst all the Towcester goals. I forget how or when it happened as we were scoring so often, but the penalty was comfortably saved by Towcesters kitty cat in goal, Sam Kelly. THE BALL DOES NOT LIE. Never has, never will.
Some silly scenes followed the 6th goal, but as ever, ultimately nothing came of a handbags scenario & the Towcester celebrations followed into the early hours of Sunday morning ๐ฅณ
FairPlay to the lads who played for Finedon, wherever they were from, as they were a good side yesterday. Thanks for the hospitality after the game too.
SIMPLE AS THAT. ๐๐

This is it for the boys, final day of the 2024/25 season & we travel to much improved Finedon Reserves, looking for a win that will retain our title. Anything less than this would see S&L crowned as champions.
Over the past 2 seasons we have been used to playing league games under pressure, being pushed all the way this season by an excellent S&L Corby side, and by Wootton last year.
As mentioned earlier, Finedonโs Reserve side may sit at the bottom of the table, but this will be a tough test. They have had some big improvements in recent weeks, marginally losing at home to S&L last week and also picking up points at home to Thrapston and Rushden, so we will have to be at our best.
The support in the last month has been great, hope to see you all there again โฝ๏ธ

On Saturday, 3rd May, during a match between Silverstone and Olney, a devastating incident occurred just ten minutes into the game. One of our former players and current Silverstone player, Connor Bodily, jumped to challenge for a header, but on landing, suffered a horrific injury.
Connor is a top lad, who played a pivotal role last season, in delivering Towcesters first league title in 30 years.

Towcester got the job done at home to Crick this evening in comfortable style.
Special shout out for unleaded on the Crick wing who was still giving it large tads still despite the scoreline ๐ kids shouldnโt be left out that late without parental supervision!
It all goes down to both S&L & Towcester visiting Finedon for their last games of the season, a Finedon side that have proved more than competitive in recent weeks. S&L play Finedon on Saturday and Towcester follow suit the following week.
A good crowd yet at the rec today ๐๐ป thanks again for all the support.

Good news, your favourite Tuesday evening activity is back at The Rec again this week ๐โฝ๏ธ
Towcester, playing their 7th game in a month, welcome Crick for their last home game of the season. After yesterdayโs draw against Wootton, 2 wins from our last 2 games are now required to retain the title.
The visitors Crick are fresh from winning the division 1 cup on Friday evening ๐๐ฝ๐ and we expect a very tough game.

AFC Towcester 1 Wootton 1
Towcester got a well earned point today at home to UCL side Wootton.
A first half penalty was converted by Adam Kelly after being fouled in the penalty area.
Wootton were the better side in the second half and got a deserved equaliser, with a good strike in off the post.
Towcester now need to win their last 2 games to win the league. Next up is cup winners Crick at home in the league, which is another tricky game.
Lots of good performances, especially in the first half today, but MOM goes to Sam Kelly in the Towcester goal with a superb performance. Luckily heโs as good with his hands, as he is bad with his feet ๐
A good crowd at the rec today ๐๐ป thanks for all the support.

The big games come thick and fast for Towcester, on bank holiday weekend, as they bid to try and retain their title.
Wootton sit 5th in the table, unlikely to go up or down from that position, and is their final game of the season. On paper you might incorrectly think this to be a straightforward game, but that will not be the case. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw, Wootton are always a strong side, typically this time of year, they also have a bit of help from players in higher leagues.
Towcester, as ever, with the smallest squad in Northamptonshire ๐, will have their usual bunch of 12/13 lads, looking to get the job done.
If youโre at a loose end, why not come down and cheer on the lads? Sun is shining & Peacock open as usual ๐ปโฝ๏ธ
All support welcome for Les, Paul, subs and Lino!

Lots of good performances, especially in the first half today, but MOM goes to Paulโs Smith favourite Richie Parker.
