Our U17/18s played their last game of the season today. If Southwick allow it, the boys will be going on to play adult football. This team will be the first that have gone on to play adult football after playing for Staverton youth. Most of the players have been with Staverton for years. We wish them the best of luck.

One of our clubs players was diagnosed with a brain tumour 2 years ago. He underwent surgery followed by gruelling chemotherapy. Over the 2 years, Jamie, 8, has faced a few other issues along the way. Before Christmas, Jamie was rushed into hospital as he had been poorly for a week or so and they needed to check him. It turned out that the shunt they put into Jamie's head to drain fluid from the brain to the stomach got blocked, causing pressure in his head. He had to have a couple of surgeries to fix the problem. Jamie was also diagnosed with Cataracts on both eyes so hard to have surgery on these too. Fast forward to now, Jamie is well and back to football training.
We had a collection for the family to help as a parent had to be with him at all times so couldn't work. The club raised £704 for them. We presented them with this tonight. Jamie is the one in the coat holding the cheque with his brother.

This brings to light that abuse towards referees isn't just from adults. Totally unacceptable. This is what the final straw for the Cheshire FA was that lead to all grassroots football being withdrawn for a short time.
Abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.

I'm sure the coaches would appreciate help if anyone can offer it.
