Turriff Thistle FC

The Jags picked up right where they left off after a victorious start to our Division 3 campaign against Kintore United.

The first 45 minutes were fairly uneventful with Thistle putting the pressure on the opening 10 minutes, before a fairly back and forth remainder of the half saw the two teams go into half time level at 0-0.

Thistle began the second half looking for the opening goal, and that would come 3 minutes in when Lee Stuart laid the ball to Harry Gray who struck home a thunderous effort from long range putting Thistle 1-0 up. However the celebrations did not last long as Kintore would equalise 2 minutes later from a long ball through which broke the defensive line and was placed home nicely by the Kintore number 11.

The Jags kept mounting the pressure looking for that winning goal, and that would finally come with 88 minutes played after a Mike McCombie through ball from left back put Ewan Milne on goal, with last seasons Division 4 POTY rounding the goalkeeper and slotting it home to send Thistle home with all 3 points.

After a strong pre-season, the squad will be looking to get the new season off to the perfect start. It won't be an easy test away from home, but the lads will be giving everything to bring the points back to Turra.

If you're free today, make the trip to Kintore and get right behind the Jags. Your support makes a huge difference!

Thistle secured a well earned win this afternoon against Division 1 side St Marnans in a great display from the home team.

An early own goal from a Thistle corner got us off to a great start as we put the pressure on the Foggie goal for the first part of the game. A costly mistake at the back saw the away team score making it 1-1 going into half time.

Two quick goals from substitute Blair Beaton put Thistle comfortably back in front before Lee Stuart slotted away a penalty to make it 4-1 to the Jags. A long range effort from St Marnans found its way into the top corner making it 4-2 with roughly 10 minutes left, however Thistle kept their cool and saw the game out in what was a confident performance.

⚽ ASSISTANT MANAGER WANTED | TURRIFF THISTLE FC ⚽

Turriff Thistle FC are looking to recruit an Assistant Manager to join our coaching team for the upcoming season as we prepare to compete in AAFA Division 3.

The role will involve assisting the manager with training sessions and matchday duties while gaining valuable experience in a progressive amateur football environment.

Working alongside a UEFA B Licence coach (with plans to achieve his UEFA A Licence by the end of the year), the successful applicant will gain first-hand exposure to coaching, session planning, player development and match preparation. Our manager also runs his own coaching business, making this an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to develop their coaching knowledge and experience.

We are an ambitious club, coming off the back of an AAFA Division 4 League and Cup Double, with a fantastic squad that combines experienced players with a talented group of young footballers progressing through Turriff United Youth Football Club
