The Alan Plumb Practice Centre is officially open to members! ⛳️

What a fantastic weekend celebrating the opening of our new Practice Centre with our members!

A very special moment was having Brenda Plumb, Alan’s wife, cut the ribbon and officially open the Centre in Alan’s honour. ❤️

Matt also put on some fantastic demonstrations on the range, giving members a chance to see the new facilities in action, before we finished the celebrations with a cookout! 🌭

It was brilliant to see so many members come along to celebrate the introduction of this exciting new facility and be part of such a special day for the club.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the opening so memorable! ⛳️🏌🏽

A little glimpse back to 2001, when summer evenings seemed to last forever, the club was filled with laughter, events brought everyone together, and members’ nights meant a packed house and memories made that would last a lifetime.

And we’re sure there’ll be plenty of familiar faces in these photographs! How many members will spot themselves, friends or family from 25 years ago? There’s something rather special about seeing the people and moments that were such a big part of the club’s story.

These photographs are more than just a look at how the club used to look - they’re a snapshot of the friendships, celebrations, laughter and wonderful moments that made it feel like home.
So much may have changed over the past 25 years, but the spirit of the club, the friendships and the memories we share remain at its heart.
Here’s to looking back, remembering the good times, and celebrating all the memories that have made our club what it is today.🏌🏼‍♀️🏌🏼⛳️☀️💕

🌱A little behind-the-scenes look at last week’s greens maintenance at SHGC!🌱

From essential course care to keeping our greens in top condition, the hard work continues to make sure the course is looking and playing its best. ⛳️❤️

Our members Andrew, Jasper and Monty showing us how it’s done - although we’ll let you decide who has the best swing 😂👀

Hole 1 - The Opening Challenge⛳️

Our longest hole, with the railway line down the left, the stream in play and a narrow fairway to negotiate. A gentle start…right?

Hole 2 - Keep it Straight⛳️

An elevated tee, a tricky green and trees lining both sides. Add a stream into the mix and you’ve got one seriously testing par 3.

Hole 3 - Accuracy Required⛳️

One of the narrowest holes on the course, with trees, the stream and some unpredictable lies waiting to catch an inaccurate tee shot. Keep it straight!

Hole 4 - The Long Par 3⛳️

The longest of our par 3s, with bunkers either side and the stream lurking just 100 yards from the green. Club selection is key.

Hole 5 - Risk or Reward? ⛳️

Fancy taking on the green? You’ll need to navigate the trees, stream and bunker. Play safe, and there’s a much easier route in.

Hole 6 - Short but Sneaky⛳️

Our shortest hole - but don’t be fooled! A brook, front bunker and small green can quickly turn this little par 3 into a big challenge.

Hole 7 - No Stream, No Problem⛳️

The only hole without the stream in play - but an internal out of bounds, narrow green entrance and tricky slopes provide plenty of trouble elsewhere!

Hole 8 - The Windy One⛳️

A testing par 3 into the prevailing wind, with the brook waiting for anything drifting right. And that two-tier green? Good luck reading it!

Hole 9 - Finish Strong⛳️

Trees, a diagonal brook, bunkers and a deceptively tricky green. The perfect recipe for a dramatic final hole. Finish strong!
