Let's Keep Talking

Healthy debate is important.

So are facts.

We'll always listen to genuine questions, respond honestly and continue engaging with local residents, organisations and partners as the project develops.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to ask questions, offer support and help shape the future of this exciting community project.
Together, we're building something that Viewpark can be proud of.

Supporting Local Charities, Not Competing

We've also seen suggestions that the Hub could impact existing charities or community funding.
Our ambition is the opposite.

We're creating new opportunities, attracting new investment and bringing additional resources into Viewpark that can benefit the wider community.
Success isn't about one organisation thriving.

It's about helping the whole community thrive.

We Are Here to Work Together

One question we've heard is whether we're trying to replace or compete with existing community or sports organisations.

The answer is simple.
No.

Our vision has always been about collaboration. We have never viewed this project as being about replacing or competing with the fantastic organisations already serving Viewpark.
We've already engaged with local organisations and many others to understand how we can complement—not duplicate—the fantastic work already happening across Viewpark.

Stronger partnerships create stronger communities.

The Path Isn't Closing

MYTH: The project will block access through the Gala Day site.

FACT: It won't.

Public access has always been a key part of our plans. The existing route through the site will be maintained and enhanced, making it safer, more accessible and better connected.

This is a community asset. It should remain accessible to the community.

Will the new facilities only be for St Patrick's Sports Academy?
No.

Accessibility is one of the foundations of this project.

The new all-weather pitches will be enclosed to protect a significant community investment, improve safety and ensure they remain available for years to come. They will not be exclusive to St Patrick's—they will be available to local clubs, schools, community groups and partner organisations.

When they aren't being used for organised activities, our ambition is for local children and young people to continue enjoying the space responsibly, while ensuring the playing surfaces are protected for everyone's long-term benefit.

Our wider vision goes far beyond the pitches. We are creating improved accessibility throughout the site, inclusive facilities, welcoming community spaces and additional outdoor amenities that will be freely accessible every day for people of all ages and abilities.

This project isn't about restricting access—it's about creating better facilities, protecting them for the future and opening up more opportunities for the whole community.

The Hub is being designed for everyone.

Let's Address Some Questions

Over the last few weeks, as more people have learned about our vision for the Community & Sports Hub, we’ve received lots of questions and feedback.

We genuinely welcome that.
Some concerns appear to be based on misunderstandings or assumptions, so over our next few posts we’ll be addressing them openly and sharing the facts.

Some of the topics we’ll be covering include:
• Accessibility across the site
• The public path through the Gala Day Pitches
• Working alongside existing community organisations and charities
• Funding and how the project complements, rather than competes with, others
We’re committed to being open, transparent and ensuring everyone has access to accurate information.

NB - This is a mock-up picture. There will be ongoing community consultation to agree final development

Because this project belongs to the community.
