St Patrick’s Sports Academy

It was great to go along tonight and meet the coaches and players at St Patrick’s Sports Academy.

It was fantastic to hear about their plans following the community asset transfer of the Galaday Pitches and, most importantly, the opportunities this project will create for local young people and the wider community.

Community groups and local volunteers play such an important role in bringing our communities together, giving young people opportunities and creating spaces where everyone can get involved.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the project progress and will do whatever I can, as the local councillor, to support St Patrick’s Sports Academy and help them deliver their vision for the pitches and the community.

Exciting times ahead — I’m looking forward to seeing the positive difference this project will make locally!

🤝 New Partnership | The Well Foundation & St Patrick’s Sports Academy

We’re delighted to announce a new partnership between The Well Foundation Community Sports and St Patrick’s Boys Club, creating stronger football pathways and more opportunities for young people in our community. ⚽️

The Well Foundation has worked hard to make football accessible to children from all backgrounds, helping hundreds of young people enjoy the game, develop their skills and grow in confidence.

This partnership will allow children progressing through the Well Foundation Academy to have a clear pathway into St Patrick’s Sports acadamy, giving players who are ready for the next step the opportunity to experience competitive grassroots football and continue their development.

But this partnership is about much more than identifying talented players. We’ll work together to:

* ⚽ Create clear pathways from community football into grassroots teams
* 👦 Give more children opportunities to progress and develop
* 🤝 Share coaching knowledge, experience and opportunities
* 🌍 Encourage participation from diverse and underrepresented communities
* 🏆 Organise joint sessions, matches, tournaments and development opportunities
* ❤️ Keep football affordable, welcoming and accessible to everyone

For some children, the Well Foundation may be their first experience of organised football. We want to make sure it isn’t their last. Whether they simply want to play for fun or have ambitions to progress further in the game, there should always be a next step available to them.

Supporting Local Charities, Not Competing

We've also seen suggestions that the Hub could impact existing charities or community funding.
Our ambition is the opposite.

We're creating new opportunities, attracting new investment and bringing additional resources into Viewpark that can benefit the wider community.
Success isn't about one organisation thriving.

It's about helping the whole community thrive.

We Are Here to Work Together

One question we've heard is whether we're trying to replace or compete with existing community or sports organisations.

The answer is simple.
No.

Our vision has always been about collaboration. We have never viewed this project as being about replacing or competing with the fantastic organisations already serving Viewpark.
We've already engaged with local organisations and many others to understand how we can complement—not duplicate—the fantastic work already happening across Viewpark.

Stronger partnerships create stronger communities.
