✨ ARE YOUR SKILLS HOLDING YOU BACK?✨
The open is closed now.
Whether you were on the leaderboard or not, if you did the workouts you've probably got a good idea of what movements or area might be dragging your overall score down.
If you've got plans to compete later this year they're probably at the forefront of your mind. 🤔
"I need to sort out these *insert skill* before then"
A phrase I'm sure most of us are pretty familiar with. 😅
Instead of spending an aimless 30 minutes once or twice a week trying and failing to hit some reps, try this progression path. 👇
1️⃣ Make sure you've actually allowed yourself enough time to get better. If you're constantly competing every couple of months it's going to slow that progress right down. A good 12-16 weeks of uninterrupted training are key for real gains.
2️⃣ Make sure your basics are PERFECT. Straight after a competition is a great time to strip things back and make sure your foundations are firm. Base strength, basic kip swings etc. If that stuff isn't right it'll only make things harder.
3️⃣ Stop throwing your new skills straight into wods. Build consistency and volume in those skills on their own first. Get really confident with them before introducing any kind of fatigue. Timed intervals like EMOMs are perfect for this. 👍
4️⃣ You're never too good for the strict stuff. It's not JUST for foundation building. It builds time under tension safely, thus helping you build your volume without putting yourself at injury risk. 💪
And if you need help putting this blueprint into action, drop that "BUILD" in the comments and I'll slide in your DMs 😉
