Healthy(ish) home-made chocolate recipe 😋 Surprisingly easy to make!
If you’re going to choose one day to make chocolate, when better than today ❤️
Cacao is cocoa in its purest form so packed full of heart healthy antioxidants and minerals 🤸♀️
7 tbsp cacao (or cocoa) butter, grated.
5 tbsp cacao (or cocoa) powder.
2 tbsp honey, maple syrup or agave syrup.
1/2 tsp vanilla essence.
• Start by grating the cacao butter to make it easier to melt.
• Then boil water in a pan, put a Perspex/glass bowl into the pan and turn off heat. Make sure water doesn’t get into the bowl.
• Melt cacao butter in the bowl then add syrup and allow to melt too.
• Stir in vanilla and then cacao powder.
• Taste and add more syrup/vanilla if preferable.
• Pour into moulds and allow to set at room temp or in fridge.
💁♀️🍫
(This is dark chocolate, for milk choc add whole milk powder with cacao powder.)
If you want to fill the chocs pour melted chocolate into mould and then tip out excess to create a shell for filling. Freeze for 15 mins then fill and pour chocolate over the filling before setting..
Filling ideas:
• For a cream filling mix icing sugar with a bit of egg white and add a few drops of flavouring (I used peppermint and strawberry)
• Mix some double cream into some of melted chocolate to make a soft ganache filling. (I added a bit of instant coffee to the ganache 😋)
• Add chopped nuts/dried fruit and mix in with the choc.
• Can also fill with caramel, peanut butter... the possibilities are endless!
