Achievable Weightloss Free weight loss and fitness programmes. We provide easy, effective weight loss, fitness and streng Hey There. Thanks for visiting my Achievable Weight Loss page.

So let me tell you a bit about myself (cause I don't mind doing that). I'm Conor McGirr. I've been a Personal Trainer and Sports Coach for 7 years, but my interest and experience in exercise, health & fitness started a long time ago. When I was about 6 in fact. I studied martial arts (Karate and Ju Jitsu) at the hospital gym where my Dad worked. It was a great way to keep me out of mischief (which I got into a lot at the time). I took to it like a duck to water and went on to compete and then coach at national and international level. I'm a Third Dan Black Belt in Karate and Fourth Dan Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu and I've trained numerous people at all levels (many of whom took it up to help with strength, conditioning and weight loss). But get this; In spite of all the training and discipline involved in my sport I often struggled with my weight (it's easy to pack on a few extra layers, am I right?). And a serious knee operation meant that training and exercising was sometimes a challenge (and it still can be too). So I know first hand how motivation, mindset, lifestyle and physical setbacks, can really throw a spanner in the works of your plan to get (and stay) healthy. But you don't have to settle. And why would you WANT to? In order to lose a bit of weight or just get a bit fitter all you need is a plan that fits around you, your goals and your ability (oh and someone who's got your back when the going gets tough - that helps too) and that's why I'm here. There's no excuses really when it comes to your health. Everyone can do something. I've worked with people with all sorts of health problems, weight problems, physical problems, emotional problems and also special needs. All of them needed to work in a plan that was right for them, and all of them have achieved their goals with a little help, support and encouragement. Oh and if they can, burpees! So if it worked for them, I'm DAMNED SURE it will work for you too. You see, I kind of always knew I was going to be a PT. No matter what. I wanted to help ordinary everyday people lose weight and feel great whatever challenges are in their way. And that's what I do. Every day. It's what I love. It's what I am REEEEALLLY GOOD AT. I've been a part of major transformations in people's lives. Not just their physical weight, but their overall health, strength and stamina. What's more I've been amazed at the impact on their confidence and happiness too. It's that buzz that keeps me wanting to help more people get that feeling and that look I see when clients smash through things that once would have held them back. Or worse, stopped them even trying in the first place. So I want to share my knowledge and skills with you. If it helps just ONE person take the first steps back to health and fitness I'll be chuffed. In fact if you want to get a copy of my 10 Rules of Fat Loss to help get you going; go ahead be my guest. So your starting off a weightloss journey to lose "x" ammount of weight.

For most of us presumambly this process is going to take us a number of months or even years to achieve.

This is going to be a journey which is on going, continuous and also goiing to require consistency over the long term.

So why in the world does everyone set out to make this as hard as possible?

Why make this such an unbearable, unpleasant, unrelenting task that we dread and want it to be over after the first day of starting?

Why not make some small changes that are a step in the right direction?
Make these tasks easily achievable on a daily basis and something that you can easily do, even on your worst days?

Wouldnt this be setting yourself up to win? To achieve those weightloss goals?

For the love of god, do yourself a favour, make the journey at least something you enjoy!!

Rant over!

Have a great week!!

So we all look to lose weight and want to look and feel great in our skin!

Something that's often overlooked is what that's going to feel like over the long term.

Some people are more than happy getting themselves into great shape and staying in that condition all year round. Doing the same actions and staying "on plan" forever.

This is cool and each to their own.

However most of us want to be able to relax from time to time and go through periods of losing weight, putting weight on and maintaining.

This is what I like to call the Lean to Cuddly Scale (I should copyright this).

We all have a point where we feel super lean and feel we look fantastic. This often comes with sacrifices wether thats socially, food wise or increases in exercise.

On the other side of that we have our cuddly stage, we're a bit chunkier, carrying a bit of extra fat and are a little uncomfy. This tends to follow from more social events, maybe a holiday but in general is where we're enjoying ourselves a bit more than we should.

Then there's the sweet spot. Right in the middle. We have great balance, foods good most of the time, we still look decent and are generally pretty happy. Theres good balance between social stuff, eating good and enjoying what life has to offer too!

It's perfectly acceptable to go through each of these stages we just need to work out what these are for us, and where we're at now.

So work yours out, top end weight, bottom end weight, the middle and then work out if you need to make a change to move to another category?

Have a quality weekend!!

So you've been trying to lose weight for years, done every diet in the world, tried every exercise.

You start off losing weight on some new diet, begin to lose weight, everythings going great and you're really consistent with actions both exercise and training wise.

As you lose weight over the next few weeks or months you begin to let a few things slide, actions arent as consistent and you being to plateau with your weight, and eventually you being to put weight on.

This begins to spiral out of control as you do less and less to stop your weight creeping up. You reach your original starting weight and will often go past this, reaching the same unhappy, overweight and unmotivated self.

Eventually we reach a point where you get fed up of this again, decide to take action again with a new diet, a new fitness fad and start to lose weight again, before falling into the innevetable cycle of relaxing, gaining weight and feeling like nothing works leaving you unhappy once more with a feeling of failure.

Sound familiar?

If this is you, or you know someone who's struggling with this constant cycle, get in touch and I'll happily run you through how I can help you break this cycle and create a weightloss plan that works for the rest of your life!!

Controversial I know but you already have all the tools you need to lose weight, get fit and achieve your fitness goals.

We all know not to eat crap, drink alcohol and to do more exercise.

We all just have a problem applying it.

So maybe we should stop looking for answers and just start to apply some of what we already know.

Can we always learn more? Sure, that never hurts.

But application is what gives us the results.

So lets get going!!

4 things to do to keep the weight off!

1. Review your progress regularly

Whether its weights and measures, pictures or just checking in with your habits. This is essential, if you don't know where you are, how do you know if you're still succeeding!!

2. Highlight all the good stuff you do in relation to your goals!

You want to keep the good stuff going! Work out why it's good, and how you keep it that way or better!
Ask "how can I make this even better?"

3. Highlight the bad bits!

Whats not working for you? Why isnt it working? What do you need to change with these things to ensure you either do them better or structure them in a way to help you move forwards more?

4. Set some clear actions!

Once you've done all of the above, set yourself 3-4 crystal clear actions (almost like a tick list) that is either a yes or no as to wether you've completed them or not.
Think things like "I must exercise 4 times per week" rather than "do more exercise".

This will ensure you can't half ass your actions and makes it super clear how to move forwards!

When it comes to starting a new diet, a new health kick or just getting into exercise often people try to reinvent their entire lives.

This normally last 2-3 weeks then old habits start to creep back in and slowly but surely we're back to square 1.

This is often due to trying to do too much, too quick and making way to many changes for us to keep up with.

Think of it this way, if like me you're over the age of 30, you've got 30 years of habits, behaviours and routines you use daily and weekly that work really well for you. Wether its work, social life, family time or just general life stuff. We all are set in our ways.

When we begin a new routine, this is a huge change to our habits, so we need to give it time and maybe only change a few things at once. Let these settle in over a number of weeks or months so they become our new habits/routines. Then add the next ones to move us forwards!!

So next time it gets to "i'll start doing x" think how you can make this consistently part of your routine in a way that isnt overhauling your entire life!!

Having a chat this morning with a few of the trainers in the office about the quick fixes we've seen.

The herbalifes, the slimming shakes, elastic wraps, tablets, detoxes the list goes on.

Now these products & gimmicks will always exist. They're never going away and as long as people want to lose weight there's always going to be someone creating a new form of bu****it to sell.

However this is the truth about all of it. As long as all of these have existed people have always got results without them and kept their results through DOING THE WORK.

Nothing replaces the work, if you want results you must put in the work, in health and fitness, business, relationships, education whatever the field.

Nothing replaces the work.

Look at the people who have success in the goals your after, did they skip steps? Did they overnight become succesful at their goals? No. They consistently put in the work over long periods of time.

So stop looking for a shortcut, and start putting in the work.

5 Things to Avoid when you first start to exercise!

1. Lifting to heavy to quickly.

Ego lifting will get you nowhere in the longrun. You need to ensure you lift properly, with good form on EVERY lift. This means you'll move the weight well and will be able to move onto big numbers further down the line without injury!

2. Training too much without enough rest.

Rest is just as important as the work. In fact rest is where you're body repairs and you get better!
So ensure you're getting adequate rest & recovery days.

3. Following your mates workouts.

Just because your mates in good shape doesnt mean you should be doing their workout. If your friend was an olympian would you do the exact same as them? No I thought not! Keep it simple and suitable for you, your goals and ability.

4. Comparing yourselves to others.

The only person you need to compare to is you. Aiming to better yourself and progress is great. You have no idea how long that person you're comparing yourself to has been training or what they're training for!

5. Training till you can't move.

Doing a workout to the point where your limbs no longer work for the rest of the week isn't great for progress, how you feel, or looking like you've not s**t yourself! Working your muscles enough to help them grow, progress, get stronger but so that you can still move the next few days is all you need!! Remember, more than last time and progress gradually!
