It was great to end my 2025 racing season back in British GT with the team at Mahiki Racing.

Huge thanks to everyone at SVG Motorsport for their support throughout the season, Marc Elman & Owen Hizzey for bringing home some extra points and of course my amazing team mate Liona Theobald for driving the wheels off our Ginetta - your future is bright!, keep pushing and chasing the dream!

From the archives - Big thanks to for sharing this photo from November 2018 celebrating Rockingham’s Super Send Off, the last ever race at the Corby circuit.
Rockingham was the location of my first race and holds special memories.

2023 British GT GT4 Am champion returns to single-make racing in the Ginetta GT Championship, with the brand new GTP8.

James Townsend, a Ginetta veteran of over 100 races will return to single-make racing with Ginetta for the first time since 2022, after racing Ginetta GT4 machinery in both British GT and GT Cup over the past two years.

The Ipswich born racer who has scored over 50 class podiums across multiple Ginetta championships and raced with Ginetta’s Head of Motorsport Mike Simpson in British GT in 2023 is no stranger to the Yorkshire based manufacturer.

James will be taking on the championship in the new G56 GTP8 powered by a 6.2litre V8 with Surrey based SVG Motorsport, now entering their 10th year of Ginetta competition and spearheaded by team owner Andy Johnson.

Townsend said “I’m excited to return to single-make racing. I believe the new Ginetta GT Championship format is a great way to get a balance of both the cut and thrust of sprint racing whilst being more strategic and rewarded for maintaining focus and consistency in the endurance race on Sunday’s. I’m teaming up with my crew from last year SVG Motorsport with one goal in mind and that’s to win a championship.”

It’s time for the next round of GT Cup - this time heading to my home circuit Snetterton.

Liona and I will be looking to build on our positive momentum and bring back some more trophies for the SVG Motorsport team and Ginetta this weekend!

😛🏆I don’t often get excited about finishing third but today’s P3 meant a lot considering the speed of the cars in our class and in just our second weekend together as a team and new driver pairing.

We’ve collectively been working hard for results despite having one hand tied behind our back. It was great to bring this back as a reward for all of the hard work by and the team at

Bring on Snetterton in two weeks time💪🏼

“Success is not determined by how much talent you have, but how effectively you use that talent” - Sir Stirling Moss OBE

Incredibly privileged to attend ‘A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of Sir Stirling Moss OBE’ at Westminster Abbey today.

A man who’s racing spirit, endurance, and sportsmanship I greatly admired. In a world of instant gratification, shortcuts and hollow sentiment he was a bastion of what was right, and despite his undeniable talent, wasn’t scared of the hard graft to get what he wanted.

Clearly a view shared by those in attendance today; HRH The Duke of Kent, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, Sir Jackie Stewart, The Duke of Richmond, Derek Bell, Damon Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave, Ross Brawn and Christian Horner to name just a few.

Sir Stirling Moss is the only driver ever to have lost a World Championship by a single point, after having advocated for his main rival to have seven points reinstated following that rival having been disqualified.

To quote his son, Stirling Elliot Moss at today’s service:

“His skill surpassed the boundaries of what was considered possible in his sport, but his sportsmanship surpassed the sport itself. Stirling Moss became more than a racing driver, he became an icon.”

🏆🏆Not a bad weekend - a last minute call up on Thursday afternoon to pop along to Oulton Park to take part in the Ginetta GT Championship.

Two class podiums (1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd) a lot of fun had and a spotless car handed back. All good prep for our GT Cup campaign which kicks off at Donington on 20th April.

Big thanks to everyone at Ginetta and Want2Race for the warm hospitality - see you all again soon!
