Life, whether good or bad or somewhere in the middle, is always helping me to shape practices of yoga and wellbeing practices to help be resilient, kind and to find rest in what can be trying times. If you are not in those times this will simply keep you steady and top up resources and bring you home.
You will notice I am weaving in some fascial release work this term from the latest learning I am doing with the fabulous . Come explore a bit more of that, people have loved it so far.
Nurturing ways from mind, heart and body, bring us to rest in present moment awareness, bliss!

What kind of yoga do I teach ? Well that depends... on Wednesday nights from 6.30-7.40pm I offer a mindful flow intermediate level class. Explore still postures in depth and flow through classical sun, earth and moon flow yoga. Also practice inner somatic movement and learn tools for nervous system regulation. This is the more yang class which is then followed by Yin Yoga with Yoga Nidra from 7.50-9pm. Yin yoga is about 6 or 7 slow supported poses often supported with props or with bolsters, poses last 3-6 minutes and explore the 5 elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Expect acupressure massage and themes related to the elements of water, wood, fire, air and metal. Yoga Nidra is a game changing spoken word relaxation which resets the nervous system and mind. If you are stressed out, have trouble relaxing or sleeping or are in a life transition such as peri menopause the Yin and Nidra class comes highly recommended.
I have taught yoga now for 20 years and practised for much longer and love the support yoga gives my life. If you would like to try one of my classes just book a taster on the website. Evening classes are based at Bedminster Quaker Hall, 2 minutes from Victoria Park School classes are also online and recorded. I look forward to welcoming you to a class soon.

Just finished fixing my bike: puncture sorted, brake blocks replaced, chain cleaned and oiled, mudguards realigned.. took about 1 hour.. I wondered what took me so long to do this? The result is a bike that rides easily, no scraping or chaffing. Not the same bike as when it was new, but a smooth safe ride.
I did a 30-minute Qi Gong practice earlier and wandered around the garden with my tea, looking at what was growing. Really taking in the shapes, patterns, smells, colours, and observing external change in the seasons.
I thought about bodies and lives, as we age and change, get ill, and recover... How we may need to adjust, slow down, change tack. The bike maintenance is the same as looking after ourselves and creating habits of health.
I have been a student at various classes as I plan next term's. Its good to be held by someone else and to notice what I like or not, to refine and revisit what I offer. Physical movement is a necessity for me - hormones, to calm my busy mind, bring better sleep and general balance to feel well.
What do you need to feel well in your life, in body, mind and spirit?
Classes begin next week with a term bursting with good stuff for spring.
Come and join us if you can, booking here x Nicola Read more: https://wix.to/v1dyfhL

Bike maintenance this morning, very similar to personal self care. A tune up, clean, fix puncture and brakes. Makes for a far smoother ride, not a new bike, but one that is maintained and running smoothly. This is the practice of yoga, qi gong and nature connection for me. Our body is our vehicle in life, without good health where are we ?
