Summer of Sport 2026 Impact

Basketball Scotland was delighted to receive investment from the Summer of Sport fund, enabling a dynamic programme of 3x3 activity and community events to take place between June and August.

From the Riverside Museum Urban Sports Festival and GNX Series, to wheelchair 3x3, Commonwealth Games activations and local club events, communities across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk and beyond got involved.

With opportunities to compete, try basketball for the first time and experience the energy of 3x3, the summer was all about getting active, bringing people together and growing the game.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, and to sportscotland for supporting the programme.

Boroughmuir Blaze U19 Girls head to Europe!

Boroughmuir Blaze Basketball U19 girls are heading to Latvia for their first ever European campaign.

The team will compete in the European Girls Basketball League and travels today ahead of four games across three days from Friday, 9th to Sunday, 11th October.

It will be a new challenge for the group, with Blaze facing teams from Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine - providing a different competition and a different test from their domestic season.

The U19 girls will make three trips to Latvia across the season, returning in December and April, giving the group the opportunity to compete against continental-level opposition and continue developing together throughout the campaign.

The club sees the opportunity as a significant milestone for its girls’ programme and an important step in the development of the players.

The team’s European journey comes as the Blaze girls’ programme continues to grow. In 2025, the U18 girls secured the club’s first female Scottish Cup title, another landmark moment for the programme.

Swipe through to find out first round’s fixtures, the competition teams, and what some of the Blaze players say about their trip ahead!

Good luck to the Boroughmuir Blaze U19 girls as they begin their European campaign!
