Around 225 hours altogether to carve, paint and finish off these 5 Mallard sticks. All carved from one solid Hazel block.

A Few thumbsticks i finished off very recently. I used Olive wood for the tops as it had a nice grain pattern and some nice colours. I selected 3 quite different shanks so that all were different when finished.

A Boxing glove stick that i carved from Lime and attached to a mottled Hazel shank, painted with acrylics and varnished once finished to protect it.

5 of the finest English handmade Mallard walking/shooting sticks, each hand carved and painted uniquely by myself. The heads are carved from one solid block of Hazel so there is no join at all making these sticks as strong as can be as there are no weak points. I painted 3 male and two female mallards, making sure the colours were different on each one.

A leg crook made from one solid piece of Hazel that i made a while back. One-piece sticks such as this often make the best all round sticks 🙂

A few Boxing glove walking sticks just finished. As usual the gloves have been carved from Lime and mounted onto a Hazel shank. I used acrylics to colour them and finally protected the finish with 4 coats of varnish.

A few more shots of the recently finished Akita walking stick.

An Akita stick i recently made. The trickiest bit with this one was the open mouth and carving the individual teeth and carefully sanding them up ready for the painting. The head is carved from Lime and i used acrylics to bring it to life and finally 4 coats of varnish to seal the paintwork afterwards.

A lot more work to do, but i have been roughing out the main shape of this Akita stick top i started a while back in Lime. Now its starting to take a rough shape and i know where details will start and finish i can do the finer work on it. Will post some finished pics very soon. Gave myself a bit more of a challenge with this latest one by carving the mouth open.

A few more photos of the one-piece Hazel pheasant stick i made a while back. Scroll through to see some more pics of various stages of carving it from start to finish. And see my previous post for closer look at the finished stick.
