3 days to go to the Eagles return to action after a week off, as we return to home turf to face current league leaders Fryston FC.

After a tough test last year in the Jim Callaghan Cup, which saw the Eagles victorious, we know we’re in for an even harder test here with Fryston sitting top of the league.

Let’s get a big turnout to the recreation ground to shout on the Eagles as we look to start October out with a win!

👀 | ALL EYES ON OCTOBER

A new month brings new fixtures and there's a bumper 4 weeks ahead.

It all starts this Saturday as we play host to current league leaders, Fryston FC, in what will be a tough start to the month as the Eagles look to get the month off to a strong start!

We then head on our first away outing of the month, travelling to Fieldhead Hospital, another side who have started the season strongly, we look forward to the trip over to Eastmoor in a few weeks time.

The Eagles will then return home, with the runners up entering back into the Jim Callaghan Cup. We hope we can do one better this year but an incredibly tough draw sees us play host to Upton once more, aiming for revenge and a path to the second round.

And, speaking of cups, we head back to Fryston, the site of last years JCC quarter final fixture as we enter the Premier Division league cup for the first time against the current league leaders. Facing off against them twice in a month is sure to bring a different sort of challenge.

🔃| SEPTEMBER ROUND UP

Our first month in the Premier League has drawn to a close and it's been a positive start to life in the Prem for the Eagles, with two wins and two losses to our name.

It all started with a very close defeat to Featherstone Colliery, with the experience side teaching us a few lessons about the difference between division one and the premier division. But we put those lessons into practice the following week, with a 7-1 demolition of Allerton Rovers, as Kelly struck 4 to open his account for the season.

We headed to our first away fixture the week after, taking on a determined Waterloo side and a bit of fortune in the dying stages saw Walker seal all three points to make it two wins in a row.

We finished the month, facing off against last years division one winners in Upton United and, despite the strong start, came off second best in the end with a defeat to end the month.

Still, 6 points from 12 is an excellent start and gives the Eagles a real platform to build on - with a bumper month coming up!

🦅| EAGLES TAUGHT A LESSON BY STRONG UPTON SIDE

Rounding off the month of September, the Eagles played host to last years division one winners, Upton United, with sights set on ending the month as strong as possible.

It was an early attrition between the two sides, as both were feeling eachother out in the opening periods, but it was the Eagles that would strike first as a free kick from the left hand side caused chaos in the box with all manner of deflections with Kelly nodding it over the line at the second time of asking.

Despite being ahead, we immediately stepped off, allowing Upton from the kick off to make their way up to the other end to immediately equalise from a ball that cut through the defence. The Eagles tried to rally with a few chances falling our way but it was the visitors again who capitalised with some quick play through the middle finding its way into the box and finished into the bottom left by the Upton forward. We kept hunting at the back end of the half, with Hinchliffe rattling the crossbar but headed in 2-1 down.

The Eagles came in at half time frustrated knowing they needed a big second half but didn't get going, with the visitors capitalising with a ball over the top from deep catching everyone out and finished once again by the Upton striker. We aimed to keep pushing on but to no avail, and the match drew to a close with Upton by far the better side.

A strong performance in defence from Barlow earns him the MOTM plaudits this week with the team as a whole with lessons to learn from that performance.

With no fixture next week, the Eagles have a chance for a breather before resuming in October with the fixtures coming thick and fast.

🦅|MATCHDAY

It's Saturday and it's the final matchday of the month as we play host to last years Division One winners, Upton United. And with something a bit different today, we give thanks to East Ardsley Conservative Club for winning us our brand new Carling Kit, amongst other fantastic equipment, which will debut in todays fixture!

And a tough fixture it will be, with the sides taking 1 each last year, we know about the quality of the visitors and know a very tough 90 minutes awaits as the Eagles seek to get their third win of their maiden month in the Premier League.

Remember Eagles fans, this one is an early kick off at 1:30pm so get down the touchlines early to shout on the lads!

After back to back wins for the Eagles, we head into our final match of September as we play host to last years Division One champions, Upton United.

Results were one a piece last year between ourselves and the eventual titles winners so we know another incredibly tough game awaits against a quality side. Make sure to turn out to get behind the Eagles!

🦅| EAGLES STRIKE LATE TO TAKE ALL 3 POINTS

Well, I think my heart rate has just about come down… The Eagles headed on their first away outing to face off against Waterloo FC with a tense 90 minutes awaiting them.

It was about as bad a start as we could have hoped for as the visitors found a ball to the back post to open the scoring in the first 5, as the Eagles took a while to get into the game. Chances started to arrive at the back end of the half and with about 5 minutes to the break a free kick from Hinchliffe worked its way into the box where Humphreys-Brown met it to equalise and send the lads in all square knowing a big second half was needed.

And, it was a much better start to the second half with some early pressure paying off as Hinchliffe found himself in acres of space and the strike from distance found the back of the net to put us ahead.

After a bit of pressure we took our foot off the gas as some nerves set in, with the opposition piling pressure on for a long period as we just couldn’t get ourselves going again. And, 10 minutes from the end a scramble in the box found the Waterloo man who stretched out to tap it home and equalise.

We knew we had to work very hard to rectify a poor half and needed a bit of magic to do that. It came from the boot of Ward whose ball found its way through to Walker who, bearing down on goal, beat the keeper to place it bottom left and send us back into the lead with 2 minutes of regular time to go.

We began playing some better football and a few more chances broke for both teams but, to the Eagles’ relief, the final whistle blew.

There were some gritty performances out there but Sadler takes the MOTM award for an outstanding full back display for the full 90.

Focus turns to our final match of the month next week as we play host to last years division one winners in Upton United.
