"The Men’s 1s have had a season of rebuilding following a disappointing relegation last season. A largely new squad, with players promoting from within including a number of promising juniors, would have to have a near perfect season to promote out of the notoriously competitive Yorkshire and North East Premier Division.
The men have established a new culture, shown a clearer style of play and players within the playing group have been developed well with the strong coaching.
Unfortunately, a few losses against top of the table rivals ultimately meant that we were close, but not close enough this season. Highlights, however, included beating eventual winners Sheffield Bankers in one of only two losses for them this season.
The group still retains its strong core and will be even more determined to push for promotion again next season.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the team, stuck by us and cheered us on throughout this season."
-Men's 1 Captain Matthew Anderson

And that's it! Results are here!
With an end to the season, Ladies 1's unfortunately lost 4 - 1 to Fylde 1's, and Mens 3's won 1 - 0 to Leeds Adel 3. Every team this season has strived for gold, seen many lows and many highs... with many newly formed squads this year, creating stronger friendships within our WHC Family.
We hope to see many of you for Summer league!
As always, many thanks to our Sponsors for this Season, it really means alot!
And to all of you who came down to support each and every game, we really appreciate your efforts and encouragement you bring to push us further!

For the Ladies 1s it’s been a season of rebuilding this year, as we welcomed 14 new players into the squad. We’ve worked hard together to build as a team and we are very proud of the positive team culture we have. Always supporting each other, holding each other account, striving to be our best, whilst remaining positive and pushing to improve as one team. Everything came together when we picked up a 3-2 win this weekend against a skilful Newcastle University 1st side. Thank you to all our supporters who came down to cheer us on!
Next week sees our final game of the season away against Fylde! 💪🏻🥅

There’s a reason visiting teams remember Wakefield HC. It’s not just the hockey – it’s the smell of bacon butties, the queue for coffee, the cakes going out as fast as we can serve them.
Our junior cabin sits quietly at the heart of all that. It keeps hundreds of players and parents happy on tournament days – and it helps fund the club in ways that really matter.
We’re looking for someone to take it on.
You’d be:
– sorting midweek stock
– pulling together the weekend rota
– bringing a bit of calm and energy to Sunday mornings
You won’t be doing it alone – there’s a great group of helpers around you – but you will shape how it runs, and where it goes next.
It might suit someone stepping back from playing but not ready to step away. Or someone curious about hospitality. Or someone with time, energy and a feel for people.
We’ll cover your expenses. More importantly, you’ll play a genuinely important role in the life of the club.
If it sounds like you, or someone you know, drop Matt West a line at [email protected]
or have a word at Sunday training.
