π¦ OLD SHARLSTON CC 2ND XI MATCH REPORT π¦
A brilliant team performance from Old Sharlston 2nd XI secured another excellent victory as the side chased down Hemsworthβs total to collect 15 valuable points ππ
After electing to field first, Old Sharlston produced a disciplined bowling display that kept Hemsworth under pressure throughout the innings.
π₯ Andrew Herring (3-11) was outstanding during the middle overs, removing key batters and helping halt Hemsworth momentum at crucial moments.
π Ben Wilkinson delivered an incredibly economical spell of 0-4 from 5 overs, including 4 maidens, creating huge pressure from one end.
π― Eli Lofthouse (1-12) also bowled superbly, while:
* Shane Kilburn (1-40)
* Ben Llewellyn (1-21)
* Robert Simpson (1-48)
all chipped in with important wickets.
Hemsworth were restricted to 153-7 from their 40 overs, despite a strong innings from Kevan Locke (45) and useful middle-order runs from Andy Webster.
In reply, Old Sharlston started confidently:
π William Chadwick (33) and Dave Taylor (23) shared a strong opening partnership that laid the foundations for the chase.
π Thomas Murray (22) continued the momentum with positive stroke play through the middle overs.
Hemsworth fought back through Mitchell Crapper (5-41) and briefly threatened to turn the game around as wickets fell late on.
However, Old Sharlston held their nerve brilliantly π
π Corey Dooler (13)* stayed calm at the crease alongside Ben Wilkinson (2)* to guide the side over the line and secure victory with wickets still in hand.

β
Ben Wilkinson remarkable 0-4 from 5 overs
β

π¦ OLD SHARLSTON CC 1ST XI MATCH REPORT π¦
A frustrating afternoon for Old Sharlston 1st XI away at Calder Grove, but there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance ππ
After being put into bat, Old Sharlston found scoring difficult on a pitch that offered plenty for the bowlers early on.
π Brayden Pickard (39) showed real patience and composure at the top of the order, batting maturely through difficult spells and holding the innings together superbly.
Useful contributions also came from:
* Berlin Bernadin (18)
* Brendan Norton (14) from just 8 balls
* Danny Bullock (10), supported by Palmer Holidays
However, regular wickets prevented Old Sharlston from building any major partnerships and the innings eventually closed on 124 all out.
Calder Groveβs attack was led by:
π― Scott Reyner (4-51)
π― Joseph Clough (3-22)
In reply, Old Sharlston fought hard with the ball and showed excellent intent throughout the innings.
π₯ Hadyn Chadwick (1-19 from 6 overs) made a real impression in his first 1st XI appearance of the season, bowling with genuine pace, aggression and excellent control.
π Jon Railton (2-46) continued to attack the stumps and picked up two important wickets early in the innings.
π― Tom Maskill (2-15) also bowled extremely well, applying pressure through the middle overs and helping keep the chase competitive.
Old Sharlston battled hard to stay in the game, but Thomas Oliver Buxton (57) helped guide Calder Grove home as the hosts reached 128-5.
π¬ Summary:
β
Strong mature innings from Brayden Pickard
β
Hadyn Chadwick impressive return to the 1st XI
β
Jon Railton & Tom Maskill bowled well
β
Plenty of fight shown in the field
β
Lessons to take into next week
Not the result wanted, but lots of effort and some really positive individual performances π
