Wakefield MatchPoint Squash: Siddall's Dramatic Title Win | News in Wakefield Read about the success of the first MatchPoint Wakefield Open, where 52 players battled it out. Daniel Siddall of Pontefract claimed the title in a thrilling final.

It's the women that are running the show at this weekend's Wakefield Open.

Get yourself down to Wakefield Squash Club to see some of the world's best females taking on the locals!

First matches kicking off at 8.55am sharp with the finals expected to run from 5.15pm!

And be sure to stick around after the last match for a great night of entertainment with a DJ being provided for the evening!

THE unstoppable MatchPoint Express returns to the hotbed of squash that is Yorkshire for a FIFTH time in February, when we pull into the sidings at Wakefield.

The members-run West Yorkshire club - just outside the city centre - becomes the 17th club in England to host our infamous one-day graded tournaments, with Saturday February 28th the key date for your diary.

Our host club - 78 years-old and with over 200 members - will put all four courts into graded action on the day, with three glassbacks offering superb viewing galleries for our usual squash fanatics, young and less so. There is also a cosy bar where you can drown your sorrows/celebrate your wins.

The 2026 Wakefield Open is our 23rd event on the MatchPoint Tour; expect the usual all-day frenetic MatchPoint action across five graded events, A to E.

Wakefield 1 head into the Christmas break unbeaten and sitting proudly at the top of the table! A flawless run so far – huge credit to everyone involved for the consistency, fight, and team spirit week after week.

Wakefield 2 continue to battle hard despite a tough start, showing great commitment and improvement every round. Plenty of squash still to play in the new year, and we know they’ll come back swinging.
