⚽️ FERRY LANE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE ⚽️
Tonight, I had a really positive meeting with Wakefield Council and the Reform councillors regarding the development at Ferry Lane, so I wanted to share an update with everyone on where we currently stand.
📍 Phase 1 – Where are we now?
Phase 1 has been completed in terms of the main works, but there is still some ongoing work to finish things off properly.
The 9v9, 7v7 and 5v5 pitches have been re-levelled, and ongoing pitch maintenance is taking place throughout this football season to make sure the pitches are brought back to the best possible standard.
So, when can we get back on them?
The pitch specialist is due to provide us with a further update next week. We are hopeful that we will be able to get access back and start playing on the pitches again during November.
📍 Phase 2 – What does this involve?
Phase 2 is a really exciting step forward for the club and will include:
• A small car park for around 20–30 cars, with access from the gated entrance near the container.
• The full 11v11 field area being re-levelled.
• Two brand-new 11v11 pitches being created.
The Phase 2 plans will need to go through planning, which is expected to be submitted at the end of October. The planning process can take around 16 weeks, followed by the works themselves.
If everything progresses without any delays, we could potentially be looking at the Phase 2 works being completed by the end of summer 2027.
🏠 What about a clubhouse?
At the moment, there isn't funding available within the current pot for a clubhouse.
However, once the development works above are completed, it gives us a much stronger foundation to start applying for grants and looking at funding opportunities to help us work towards getting a clubhouse in the future.
It isn't going to happen overnight, but we are now on a journey — and it is a positive one. 🧡⚽️
I will continue to say this, and I genuinely believe it:
WE ARE THE CLUB OF THE FUTURE.
Our growth is proof of that.
I am incredibly thankful to everyone who is currently part of our club — whether you're playing for the club, volunteering, coaching, supporting from the sidelines, or simply helping us move forward.
Every single person plays a part, and I personally appreciate every one of you.
Let's keep growing.
Let's keep building.
Let's keep believing.
ALL STANLEY ARE WE! 🧡⚽️
Thank you,
Toffee
