The CoWs progressed to the 5th Round of the WRCFA Challenge Trophy on a cold afternoon in East Bierley!
Two goals from Declan Redman (one in the video below) were added to with a Sam Testa penalty before he went on to assist Mehr Hussain for the goal that wrapped up the cup tie.
Ryan Cotton (🤝LCF Law) played his 50th game for the club, a club record. Chris Grant (🤝GWE Services Limited) made his debut for the first team from the after Adam Kenyon (🤝Alvere Therapy) picked up an injury, following on from sone excellent performances in the reserve team.
City progress to play against Middleton Reserves on Saturday for a place in the Quarter Finals, on a 7 game winning streak!

A 5-star win for City Reserves this afternoon, with a clean sheet!
5 assists for Kieron Dixon and a hattrick from Callum Chivers ensured the CoWs got through to the next round of the League Cup.

Our Reserves continued their winning streak with a 2-0 win over Overthorpe on Saturday.
First half goals for both Callum and Adam Chivers (also Man of the Match) sealed the victory, whilst Kevin Olaj picked up a nasty injury - we wish him well in his recovery.
It was great to welcome back Simon Thompson to City of Wakefield FC after an extended break from the club.
Our first team game away to Sheaf was postponed…

Great Preston 3
A man of the match performance from Jamie Humpheson and four different goalscorers helped City of Wakefield FC beat Great Preston in an 8 goal thriller at the Santiago BernaCow!
Callum Chivers equalised for the CoWs in the third minute which just goes to show the frantic pace the game was played at from the start. A captain’s goal from Owen Hammond followed, along with another from Calum Langdale. City lead 3-2 at the break.
Sam Testa continued his form with a goal in the second half, and an own goal completed the proceedings.
Lewis Quinn made his first team debut in the closing stages and played his part in ensuring the result.
An impeccably observed silence at the start of the game was the complete antithesis to the way the game was played, and every one of the CoWs can be proud of the contributions they made to the result.
A 4th win in 4 games!
