Gary ‘GoodNight’ Austin

Unfortunately we didn’t come away with the result we wanted, but what a feeling it was to see how far Gary has come and to see him in there fighting for the heavyweight title
And what a fight it was!

Gary faced his toughest challenge yet. Coach Rob, a full time coach from Cardiff and an absolute unit of a man!

As soon as the bell goes Gary took to the centre and utilised his sharp footwork and feints to feel out his opponent and time his way inside. His opponent used his size very well to his advantage and kept applying forward pressure not giving Gary any space or time to settle. This did not faze Gary, he worked well defensively off of the back foot and skillfully timed his way inside landing beautiful boxing combinations! Gary really had to put all of skills to use, coming in with big heavy hands and landing monstrous blows to the body and head that would have put most men down onto to the canvas, before using his evasive footwork and manoeuvres to dance around the outside before coming in again.

Round one went to Gary, but it took a toll on our gas tank! Gary had landed some serious bombs, some that wobbled his opponent, but his opponent just kept on coming!

Round 2 starts and it’s more of the same, Rob’s relentless pressure and Gary parrying his shots and coming in with big blows. But eventually the pace of the fight and forwards pressure began to wear Gary down and we got clipped with a straight right. It was a mixture of taking a big shot and sheer exhaustion that we couldn’t recover from.

For those who may not know, Gary has earned himself the nickname ‘Goodnight’ for a reason! In all of his 5 outings none of them have seen the final bell! When Gary gloves up and steps inside that ring he has no intention of somebody stepping out again regardless of who it is! Gary is our very own Viking warrior and we are immensely proud of how far he has come. To now be fighting on the main card, for title fights, against full time coaches is a hell of an achievement and shows just how highly he is rated within the organisation.

Now that Gary has come within touching distance of that belt, he’s hungry for more and is determined to get his hands on it! Gary, a man who works full time, coaches part time and is a full time father hasn’t got many fights like that left in him and struggles to fully commit to a fight camp due to lifes commitments. But he is ready to give it his absolute all and train like he has never trained before if presented with another shot at a title. And who wouldn’t want to see that!

Deep ‘Swagger’ Shergill

A big win for Coach Deep!
We had a good training camp, finally got matched up with an opponent at the same weight and then
 disaster!
During fight week Deep came down with the flu and was not in a good way at all! He decided he was going to go ahead with the fight regardless like the headstrong warrior he is, and during our backstage warm up he was having absolute coughing fits after just short rounds on the pads, it wasn’t looking good!
Deeps name was called and it was time to step inside those ropes

Deep, came out looking as sharp and as slick as ever! His opponent was the forwards aggressor for most of the fight, but that didn’t matter as Deep showed off his array of skills as he picked him apart!
His opponent came forwards, no problem I’ll pick you apart off the back foot with clean shots and wear you down.
His opponent took steps backwards, I’m on you with forwards aggression and combinations.
His opponent tries to pressure him into the ropes, teep to face!
Deep showcased his ability to throw well placed combinations on the front foot, perfectly timed counters on the back foot and off of the ropes, multiple teeps to the face off of the ropes, sophisticated footwork and great inside work landing lovely hands & knees when up close!
The most exciting thing about Deep’s performance is that he was nowhere near optimal fitness, I am very excited to see him back in there with another fair match up firing off of all cylinders!
It has been a tough start to his amateur full contact fighting career with many unfair match ups, but Deep has shown great persistence and has stuck with the process. It was great to finally share this victory together and I look forward to many more!

Leo ‘Lethal’ Piggott

We was unfortunate not to get the win on Leo’s full contact debut but we certainly liked what we saw from him out there!

We found out that Leo was matched against a young lad who was much more experienced than him with a slight height advantage and hadn’t lost a fight.
Leo was unnerved when realising this information, but he quickly overcame it and was happy to accept the fight regardless like the true fighter he is!
As soon as the bell went Leo’s opponent sprinted out of his corner across the ring and put it on him!

Leo, completely unfazed, stood his ground and started swinging right back!
It was an excellent fight with back and forth action, great skills showcased on both sides with Leo landing multiple head kicks!
Congrats to his opponent who was the fitter fighter and won via decision.
I am extremely excited to see what Leo can do out there with a more solid and consistent training camp as ultimately that was the difference. One thing is for sure, there is no questioning the size of Leo’s heart
 He’ll fight any man, anywhere!

Zorawar ‘Headshot’ Hayer

A big win for Zorawar on his full contact debut fight!
Zorawar faced an aggressive fighter who came out heavy handed in the opening round and closed down the distance well which didn’t allow Zorawar to gain composure or create enough distance to utilise his ranged attacks.
It was back and forth and then Zorawar took a count after losing his balance towards the end of the round!
Back in the corner Zorawar was reminded of how hard he has trained for this fight and that he has ‘war’ in his name for a reason, so get out there and show them who you are!
And oh my
 didn’t he do just that!
Zorawar came out in the second and third with an undefeatable spirit! He utilised his sharp footwork to create angles and space for powerful chopping round kicks which really took their toll on his opponent and slowed him down, following up with hard aggressive boxing combinations that were too much for his opponent.
All of Zorawar’s discipline, dedication and hard work during fight camp really showed towards the end of the fight. As his opponent started to fade Zorawar turned it up a notch and just kept on coming on route to victory!
A serious young talent with a work ethic & mental fortitude to match he has all of the ingredients of a future champion!
