Today marks the day... 🚀🚀🚀
19 YEARS of DanKibbyFitness and my first PT session at the Village Hotel Walsall (May 2005)
I was a chubby kid but always loved football but having broke my leg at 15 and being uneducated on nutrition I didn’t live a healthy lifestyle (kebab meat and chips every lunchtime). However, It wasn’t until I was 17 and one of my old football managers embarrassed me during pre season training in front of everyone “Kibby you fat bas**rd, what you been up to during the summer” that made me do something about it. I never got to thank him 💔🪦 but I look back now and appreciated his honesty. I was out of shape and I respected his old school approach and pretty much have adopted the no nonsense no prisoners no snowflakes welcome approach into my business.
I met my good friend and mentor Lee Dickens in 2003 who gave me my break at JJB Fitness as a fitness instructor then promoted me to Fitness Manager and his number 2. He believed in me and encouraged me to become a Personal Trainer.
I must admit I was sceptical as I’d have to be paying rent every month to a gym, market and advertise myself, no sick pay, no holiday pay and with 0 guaranteed income 😬 but I decided to give it a go!
19 years on... still winging it !
Older and wiser but 💯 still as passionate in helping people transform their physiques, grow in confidence, accomplish insane physical challenges, overcoming grief or mental demons, educating nutritional principles, getting people more active and created an ever growing and ever revolving DanKibbyFitness community 💝
19 years on there is still no DanKibbyFitness magic wand or training plan that is the ‘secret’. The key to any success in life, business and your health & fitness is to be persistent, positive and consistent. The fundamentals will always remain...
# Be active (move more)... specific to each individual but nobody gets a good butt by sitting on it too much.
# Lift weights consistently (3-4 times per week) and have a goal, accountability and structure.
# Eat nutritiously but foods you enjoy and apply common sense with portion control.
Like I’ve mentioned above you don’t get a magical programme but you do get a PT who cares and strives for you to succeed!
2 time Ironman finisher and proud to have created my physique not ever touching any ‘juice’ 💉

Danny KIBBY’s 5 biggest tips for success in your HEALTH & FITNESS journey…
1. SHOW UP ON DAYS YOU DON’T FEEL MOTIVATED - these usually end up being the best workouts. You only regret the sessions you don’t do 👊🏻
2. CUT DOWN ON PORTIONS and DO NOT DEMONISE FOODS YOU LOVE - food is life right 😋 so you have to eat what you enjoy but all with discipline and moderation. Cutting down and making smarter choices requires discipline. A digestive biscuit is 84 cals, 2 a day is 1176 cals extra for the week !!
3. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PUT YOUR LIFE ON HOLD… there will never be a perfect time when you feel ‘ready’ and you will always find reasons (excuses) to start tomorrow. Nothing incredible will happen when you achieve a certain weight / goal so make sure you are enjoying the process and the benefits of exercise. If you’re miserable along the way you’ll be miserable at the end!
4. TRY NOT TO BE PERFECT… wobbles, injuries, illness & f**k ups are all going to happen - just have the mindset to not let it affect your progress and overall consistency. Don’t have the all or nothing mentality!
5. INVEST IN YOURSELF and YOUR HEALTH - most people buy expensive cars, designer bags / watches, facial enhancements etc but are these more important than your health ? Don’t guess that you’re doing it right in the gym. Accountability is imperative and having structure, a plan and the support of a like minded community is essential for longevity in the gym.

Value… “THE REGARD AT WHICH SOMEONE IS HELD TO DESERVE, THE WORTH, IMPORTANCE AND USEFULNESS OF SOMEONE”
People never appreciate how fit, strong, healthy they are until it becomes how fit, strong and healthy they were!
Our physical and mental health should always be consistently worked on and invested in. There is no final destination to our limits! We only seem to realise the VALUE of something when we don’t have it anymore. How often do we wish we could train when we are sick or injured but when we are fine we need ‘motivating’ 🤷🏻
PT with DKFITNESS has always been more than just 1 hour of guidance and tuition over a week. People stop training with me and only then do they realise it’s a blooming lot harder by yourself with no support, no expertise, no community, no nutritional guidance, no one to be accountable to and no one who actually cares about your journey ! The internet and social media is full of 💩 and quick fixes but you will never beat old school experience.
There is no special formula or DK magic wand 🪄 and if a training plan is producing results I’m not going to change it to ‘shock the muscles’ 🙈🙄 consistency along with progressive overload over time will always produce results 💪🏻 (if nutrition on point)
Sadly a lot of people never grasp that slow progress is STILL progress.
Our Health will always be our greatest possession and will always be worth investing in.

Buzzing to present my good friend and running buddy the first ever DanKibbyFitness Tri top ready for Mikey’s 70.3 mile triathlon on Sunday. It’s been a pleasure supporting you on this journey 😘
1.2 mile swim 🏊🏻♂️
56 mile bike 🚴🏻
13.1 mile run 🏃🏻♂️
Other than my first ever driving test, I don’t think I’ll ever be as nervous as the day of my first ever half Ironman! You question yourself can I actually do this! Nerves and fear are a good thing though if you channel them the right way.
3 bits of advice I’ve given him…
1. Enjoy it ! Smile for photos and supporters, cherish the opportunity. Train hard = Race easy 👍🏻
2. Pace yourself… slow and steady wins the race, push yourself on on each discipline but finishing strong is an amazing feeling!
3. Don’t be s**t 💩 especially with my logo on your chest 😂 there will be tough times throughout the race just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Mental toughness 💪🏻
You came all the way to Wales and spent 13 hours supporting me so of course I’m gonna be there Sunday! Buzzing for you man!

5 things obvious to PT’s but maybe not to you…
1. Walking is the easiest path to improving your health.
2. Living out of shape / unhealthy is a lot harder than working out.
3. 95% of the fitness stuff you see on here is nonsense 💩 and for self profit.
4. The most effective training plans will be boring and repetitive.
5. Better never stops… appreciate where you are, where you’ve been and what you’ve achieved but always be looking to ‘IMPROVE & ENJOY’

SUNDAY THOUGHTS…
Another week 👋 bloomin loving the gym at the moment and trying to focus on my business and own training / doing things that give me pleasure and inject happiness to my life. It’s June now! Life and time goes by so quick we can forget to ‘LIVE’
Things I’ve learnt…..
*You’ll never have your whole life figured out and the future is always uncertain and unpredictable. Being a positive, honest and good person to yourself and others is integral for happiness. Life is a gift 💝 and we should treasure every moment. You can’t make people like or love you but you can always make someone feel good or better about themselves by your actions and words.
*We aren’t defined by past failures or mistakes in relationships and in fitness challenges. We can always change, grow and become better in all aspects of our life.
*Do not be hard on yourself if you feel lost, confused or that you aren’t where you should be in your life. ! Life would be pretty boring if you’ve accomplished everything. Keep growing and learning.
*Have patience after you’ve committed to something. Whether it is training, business or relationships. Being a tortoise always wins the race in the end if everything is implemented accordingly. If something - your health, or someone is important to you make time for it or them.
*Everyone will always have an opinion whether you do good or bad… ultimately we should all take responsibility and do what ‘we’ feel is right.
