After a devastating rugby injury ended his playing career nearly 20 years ago, Dan Featherstone never expected to compete again.

But through judo at Pinewood Judo Club, Dan rediscovered competition, rebuilt his confidence and even found relief from years of pain caused by his neck injury.

Now a 5th Kyu judoka, Dan recently stepped onto the competition mat for the first time โ€” earning a bronze medal in an inspiring return to sport.

We recently spent some time with the team at Melbourn Judo Club, who currently report a 76% retention rate across their membership base โ€” and one factor theyโ€™ve identified is their regular grading opportunities.

Using membership data collected over multiple years, Melbourn have been tracking month-on-month trends, as well as longer-term changes in membership by age band and belt colour โ€” giving valuable insight into what helps members stay engaged.

Hear directly from Melbourn Judo Club about what theyโ€™ve learned from their data, and how these insights could support your own clubโ€™s growth ๐Ÿ‘‡
