Superb photos from our match at the weekend by Mandy Davies v North Leigh now on our website www.WAFC.info
The club have learned the terribly sad news that Kath Peck has passed away peacefully today after a short illness.
Older members and supporters will remember Kath from the 1970's as she was a supporter of the Beechfield and Mayfield teams from the Abbey who in all essence at one point came together to join Waltham Abbey FC. Together with her partner Dave (pictured) Kath became joint steward of the club in the early 80's and was at the club for some 10 years before moving on to run her own pubs, among them The Angel in Sun Street and The Owl at Lippett's Hill.
Kath was a no nonsense lady and if you crossed her you knew but inside she had a heart of gold and everyone loved her. When the club used to have annual holidays in Magaluf every morning her room was filled with the lads boasting about the night before whilst all Pecky (Dave) wanted to do was sleep. Kath made the tea and loved every minute of it.
Kath continued to be a supporter of the to the very end always asking our club historian for old pictures and memories to make her smile.
Kath can now rest in peace and be reunited with Dave once more and her sister Pat and Del who were all Abbey supporters to the very end.
Rest In Peace, Kath Peck ###

⚽ Waltham Abbey Youth FC are looking to form a new Under 14 team for season 2021/22. Competing in the strong Echo Sunday League, the club are looking to develop players into a pathway to Senior Football through our new amalgamation between the two major clubs in Waltham Abbey. The team will be competing in the stronger divisions of the Echo league. Players must be going into School Year 9 in September. Training is Wednesday nights. All outfield positions available.
For further details please contact either Terry Ireton on 07841 910702 or Steve Moore on 07415 114337
The FA announced the new league allocations for season 2021-22 a short while ago and Waltham Abbey have been moved over into the Southern League. In what appeared a somewhat drastic restructure we will visit at least 10 new clubs on our travels now next year!
Teams with yellow band (in the picture) have been moved from the Isthmian South Central. Colney Heath (Green) have been promoted from the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.
Teams we are known to have met before are, Bedford Town, Berkhamsted, St Neots Town and Welwyn Garden City. (Apart from the teams from last season hence). It should be an interesting season with a few miles on the clock and new teams, places and faces to visit.
