What exactly is it? And why use one?

Meet the Core Momentum Trainer, or CMT; a central capsule filled with metal pellets known as ‘Power Shot’, plus two detachable handles.

As the CMT moves in one direction, so does the Power Shot. The force you need to use to change this direction, creating the sharp ‘snap’ you hear as the pellets hit the inside of the capsule, means that all your core muscles (yes, ALL of them, including those in your back and wrapping around your ribs) need to kick in. Plus this effort pushes your heart rate up ⬆️

Take a basic movement, one you’re familiar with performing in life or the gym, add a CMT and suddenly you have something far harder hitting. Giving you a serious cardio workout without impact on your joints, and one that will have you feeling your core like never before!

I use them in PT sessions to suit clients individual goals and preferences - to enhance skill and build power.

And then in CORE SHAKE DOWN classes we use them with choreographed routines to an awesome carnival inspired soundtrack in moves to work your entire body.

Think of it as a giant cocktail shaker - the louder you shake the ice, the better the resulting cocktail 🍸 will be!

And you know what else?? IT’S FUN!

If you’ve experienced a hormone related cancer, then it’s very likely that your treatment will either involve plunging you head-first into a medical menopause or the drugs you’re taking will trigger perimenopause - while you’re being told that you definitely should not touch HRT. Yet given little in the way of help and guidance to know how to cope with how you now feel - and this needs to change!

Just before my 23rd birthday (a million years ago), I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of hormone sensitive breast cancer. Big surgery and chemo followed, alone with a drug called Zoladex.

This one froze my reproductive system and threw me straight into menopause - hot flushes, night sweats, sleepless nights… but I couldn’t really tell you how it hit my mental health as in the early 2000s I was busy partying, shopping and drinking my woes away with zero mention of how I might be feeling beyond the physical.

The truth was that I was struggling intensely with body image; there were days post-treatment (when I was supposed to be ‘better’) when I’d call into work sick because I couldn’t deal with how I look in an outfit with my newly reconstructed b**b feeling like an alien growth, so yeah, anxiety probs wasn’t great 🤷🏻‍♀️

But I was 23 at this point, hormones SPRUNG back when Zoladex finished, even on Tamoxifen. I put on a brave face, wore high necklines and soldiered on.

Then at 39 a routine mammogram (don’t miss those appointments ladies) picked up a new occurrence of the same type of cancer. Role on another mastectomy but thankfully no other treatment - thank god, how people do this with a family to care for is beyond me!!!

But this time I was already heading into perimenopause; night sweats were picking up and my mental health was beginning to struggle - not that I put the pieces together until a few years later.

It’s a tricky one to get stuck in - when you’d like to start/get back to some form of exercise but you don’t feel like you’re fit enough… or you feel anxious that you’ll look out of place in your old leggings and a baggy t-shirt.

Moving your body doesn’t need to be hardcore, and you DEFINITELY do NOT need to strip down to a teeny matching set 😉

Start gently, and wearing something you’re comfortable in (seriously, if you’re training with me, you’re welcome to well your pyjamas if you fancy 😉), and build from there… you’ll be surprised how quickly your body adapts!!

Just remember, everyone was a beginner once, and most of us have taken extended breaks for illness, injuries, pregnancy, and because we temporarily lost the love… you’re not the only one who feels apprehensive ❤️

If you could forget about feeling you need to exercise in the most ‘optimal’ way, for the ‘best’ results… and instead used that time to move your body in a way that made you feel FREAKIN’ AWESOME - what would that look like for you?

I have a little idea taking shape…

Thought it was time for a little tour 🤗

Currently wishing I’d used a little hair serum and face powder first, but I’m choosing to put my self-criticism to one side for now!!

Consider this your little check-in 🤗

You’re allowed to exercise in a way that feels good, rather than something you’re been told is ‘optimal’.

There are plenty of us PTs out there, who know what it’s like to desperately try to balance family, work and mum-guilt with taking time for your own fitness, and we understand that there are days/weeks/seasons when it’s just not possible.

And no, you don’t need to be a ‘sporty person’ to find enjoyment in moving your body.

Finding types of movement, a trainer and an environment that feel ‘right’ for you can switch your mindset around exercise completely 🥰

I’ve promised myself that I’ll be more active at promoting myself and my business…

To that effect, so I can tick at least one thing off of my to-do list, I thought I’d reintroduce myself and my style of personal training.

23/04/2026

I’m afraid that ‘Quick Fixes’ and ‘6 week transformations’ will never be my style as a Personal Trainer.

The way I work will help you to build a long term relationship with exercise; improving your confidence in your body and how it moves. Building strength that will help you to navigate all the challenges life throws at you…

And I don’t need to photograph you in your knickers & vest, or force you onto the scales to do that!

If you’re ready to get moving in an enjoyable, challenging way, drop me a message ☺️
