Not long to go before the green is open once again, let's hope it gets a bit drier and warmer, although I am sure a bit of rain won't stop us . Lots of work has taken place on the green over the winter months and you will notice some changes in the running of the bowls, it all adds to the fun, discovering the new 'marks'. Look out for some new competitions this year, we are trying to make them as inclusive and as fun as possible, no pressure just for the pleasure of playing, so please join in. We also have some dates in mind for trips to other bowling venues, some new, some we had visited before. Our focus this year is on raising funds for a defibrillator which I am sure you all know can buy valuable minutes in saving a life. See you all soon, happy bowling.
Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year. Your support of the club is greatly appreciated.
It is with sadness that I have to announce the passing of Brian James. Brian joined us in 2011 and has been a well liked member of the Men’s Parks team. If any of his fellow bowlers would like details of the funeral arrangements please message me or check the website. Our sincere condolences to Brian’s family.

On Bank Holiday Monday our members enjoyed Afternoon Tea and a game of bowls in the sunshine. Thank you to all our 'bakers' for the wonderful treats. Money raised from the raffle was donated to Macmillan Nurses in memory of Ron Green who was always on hand to help out with his time and advice, his presence will be much missed.

On Saturday we had another successful day out to Guy's Thatched Hamlet, Garstang. Despite the rain showers, 35 members, enjoyed a day's bowling followed by a three course meal. Thanks to the staff at Guys for keeping us fed and watered throughout the day. A special mention to Mike, who was up into the early hours, organising the order of play for the three competitions. A BIG THANK YOU. Thanks also go to Brian and Anne for travel arrangements and making sure our dinner orders were correct.
Congratulations to the competition winners and all who took part and supported us. Our next trip is to Croston on 20th September, look out for further details. I have added some pics. In one Mike/Michelle? can been seen wearing a skirt, this is because we were short of a lady to take part in the Ladies' Pairs. What dedication to the game. The bottles on the table belong to some of the raffle winners.

Just a couple of months to go before the new bowling season starts. The green will open on Saturday 2nd April 2022 with our first day of hopefully many social days. The league games will soon follow. We are hoping we can resume our other activities too, BBQ, competitions and trips out.
It is 40 years since the green came into the ownership of the members so if anyone has photos or memories they can share we would love to hear from you.
We would also love it if more people took up this lovely game. Being outdoors in the fresh air, exercising and making new friends over a cuppa and chat, what could be better. We have all been indoors for too long. Check out our website www.penketh.bowls-club.co.uk for more information and contact details. You will be made very welcome.
To all existing members, now is the time to get your bowling arm, and excuses, ready. Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you all on the green

Just seen a post about someone caught riding a motorcycle on the bowling green. Anyone know if this is right,?
The season is fast coming to an end, unfortunately, but we are going to squeeze another social bowling day in. We will now close on Saturday the 2nd of October.
It has been a good season despite the late start and all the restrictions we have had to deal with. Thank you all for your continuing support of the club, ensuring the game of crown green bowling doesn’t become a memory here in Warrington.
Even though it was a little showery today it didn’t not stop us having fun. Thanks to everyone who played and supported the club. Just to let everyone know, from Monday the on line booking system is being discontinued, but please sign in using the book that is in the pavilion. We acknowledge that it is still important to be able to ‘track and trace’ so please do not forget to SIGN IN. Enjoy your bowls and remember to take care of yourselves and all other members.
