First outing in a while and was great to catch up with me good mate Tony Wilkinson. Today took us on West Sooty and for me Peg 15 opposite the car park.
Very slow start quite a few knocks but no takes was starting to get a bit worried so decided to take a walk over onto Big Max just to see if anyone else was catching and they were.
Went back to me peg and made a few changes bait wise put on a 8mm Orange Wafter by Dynamite Baits and used a 28g Guru Hybrid Feeder within 10mins tip wrapped round with my first carp of the day a beautiful 11lb 11oz Mirror then Tony gets stuck into a 12lb 6oz Common within 10 minutes and literally me tip wrapped around and nearly took off me rest to amazement after playing it for 15mins eventually getting it into me landing was an absolute munter of a Mirror weighing in at 18lb 7oz and a New PB for me. Another carp graced me net to just under 10lb. All in all a great days fishing was had by all and all caught on the Hybrid feeder. All ready looking forward to Saturday’s Rover at Old Hough!!🎣🎣🎣🎣

Well yesterday didn’t go to plan as expected, so road trip to Lloyds Meadow in Mouldsworth only to get there to find where I wanted to fish the banks were underwater due to the floods and deemed to dangerous to fish, so plan was a phone call to Mel at Old Hough Fishery in Middlewich which changed the day completely.
Having spoken to Mel he said there was a few pegs on West Sooty which was the Big Specimen lake where the Carp and Catfish start at 10lb upwards and boy the place never failed me.
So peg 15 was home for the day kept nice and simple 10ft Bomb Rod 8lb main line to a 9lb 15inc hook length size 14 Hook on a Band pinging out 8mm Pellets constantly to the bar within 20mins boom tip wraps round with a double figure Carp on so out of match mode trying to bully it out and risk losing took me it and eventually got it in, had no scales but as a guess I’d say 14lb Mirror and a lovely looking well maintained specimen not a mark on it and it’s lips in tip top condition as were the rest I examined on the bank with my wet carp mate underneath. Next take just took me across the lake and then pulled out after that with constant pinging pellets in 6 more Carp graced my landing net 2 in the region of 18lb and the rest ranging from 12lb upwards.
Overall an amazing day in the end with great advice off Mel and was lovely to catch up with him and Leonie

So just thought I’d update me page from the last 3 days
Day 1
Decided to fish the open at Blundells Fishery went totally against the advice given to me which was to fish meat and dead reds shallow with some groundbait, got drawn peg 27 on Trio was told to throw a bomb rod out to the bar by the side of the island feeding 8mm pellets which was where I caught the majority of me Carp, set up a pole rig at 13 metres which was difficult to hold due to the wind, set up another one shallow pinging pellets half way across and fed me margins with corn and pellet. Caught majority on the bomb rod pinging 8mm pellets across for 55lb 7oz but lost 9 decent fish to being snapped.
Great day’s fishing didn’t come last but great experience and learned a lot not only about myself but how to fish other methods.
Day 2
Saw me travel over to The Wirral and to Steve Openshaw’s Lingmere Fishery and what a day that turned out to be.
Met up with an old friend in Neil Pritchard great guy and a really good friend so great catching up him and spending a day together on the bank, Thanks Buddy👊✅🎣
Started off on the bomb rod and set up the Pellet Waggler as I noticed the fish were just under the surface also set up 3 other swims 2 in the margins and a jigger rig at 13 meters so was totally fishing it wrong until I got a valuable lesson that I’ll never forget from the man himself Steve Openshaw sat on me box re did me jigger within minutes elastic was coming out of the pole catching F1’s stayed with me for half an hour until I was confident and I was literally catching on that method all day just fishing shallow pinging 4mm pellets constantly. Had a few Carp on the bomb rod but the high light of the day was catching a duck on me Pellet Waggler which went absolutely berserk as well as the others eventually it snapping everything off.
All in all a great day’s fishing with a great friend✅👊🎣🎣
Day 3
Saw me heading over to Wrightington Fisheries for a days pleasure fishing, started off really slow in the middle on the bomb rod pinging 8mm but kept it simple using up me bait from the day before, fed me right hand margin with Dynamite Stim Method Mix Groundbait and corn 5 pots in and then sat on it whilst I continued on the bomb rod just ever now again glancing over to see if there was any tell tale signs i.e Swirling, Water Colour Change or Disturbance on the bottom.
Weather was pretty tough with the wind blowing in me face but it proved to be valuable later on in the margins as I was catching a good stamp of decent carp easily well over a 100lb of Fish also as well a few interesting spectators asking me what was I catching on.
Was still switching my attention to the bomb rod and had a few decent Carp out and losing a few due to me being in match mode and bulling fish to the net again lesson learn’t.
All in all another great day’s fishing.
