Eagle Madrid recorded a great 4-1 win away at Vulcan FC. Due to the recent bad weather this was our first league match since mid September.
In a tight first half Eagle went 1-0 up though Kalipa.
In the second half 2 quick goals in 5 minutes through Lewis & a 2nd from Kalipa seemed to put the game beyond Vulcan. However following an injury to Alex, Vulcan forced their way back into the game with a goal. Cam also made a couple of good saves. Eagle adjusted their formation and managed to take more control of the game resulting in chances for Layton & Kalipa. Eagle scored a 4th in the final few minutes after Matty was brought down in the penalty area. Regular penalty taker Matty handed the ball to Kalipa for him to claim his hatrick.
Solid performance from the boys today, strong at the back and we showed some composure on the ball. Layton & Kalipa didn’t give the Vulcan defenders any time which resulted in a hatrick from Kalipa ⚽️

Well done to the boys that that came down to an extra fitness session tonight at Ascendancy Fitness whilst the school Astroturf is being repaired
Eagle Madrid put in a solid team performance at home beating Widnes 8-1.
The first half was tight with the only goal coming from Layton in the 6th minute following a through ball from Carter.
In the 2nd half Eagle went 2-0 up when Ethan scored from the edge of the box following an Eagle throw in. Lewis then smashed one in the top corner from the opposite corner of the box to put Eagle 3-0 up. Josh who was excellent up front scored 2 goals either side of a long range strike from Matty.
With 10 mins to go Widnes pulled a goal back.
Eagle quickly added another 2 goals through Leon & Cam.
Despite all the goals, the defenders were excellent in snuffing out most of the Widnes attacks and Cam in goal was quick off his line.
Difficult to pick a player of the match in a solid team performance but Jake, Sam & Jake had great games at the back plus in midfield Leon & Ethan played well. Josh upfront scored 2 plus set up another 1 or 2 ⚽️
First game of the season today for Eagle Madrid at home vs Newton Le Willows.
Eagle went behind after 10 mins when a Newton player reacted first to the second ball. Eagle huffed and puffed but a lack of friendlies meant the usual cohesion wasn’t there. Layton, Josh and Carter had a couple of half chances and Lewis, Matty and Alex had a couple of long shots without testing the Newton keeper.
In the second half Eagle pulled a goal back, the ball was played from the back to Matty in midfield, Joe made the wide run down the right but Matty played the ball inside to the fullback for Josh to out sprint the defender before slotting past the keeper.
Eagle now we’re on top and it was a constant wave of attacks in particularly down our right. Time after time we got behind their fullback but couldn’t find the final pass or the keeper made a save.
With 5 mins to go Lewis made a mazy run in the box down the right hand side after beating 2 players the 3rd one brought him down for a penalty.
Matty stepped up to smash it into the roof of the net.
Eagle saw the game out to seal a 2-1 win.
Nice winning start with glimpses of the quality we know they have. I’m sure we’ll get better as we play more games but it was a good spirited performance with plenty of encouragement amongst the players.
Player of the match went to Matty & Alex ⚽️
Help needed at Penketh High school tonight between 4pm-8pm to set up for this weekends Eagle tournament
Training resumes tomorrow Tuesday 9th at Eagle sports club. 6:30pm-8pm ⚽️
Great game down at Thornton road this evening. Unfortunately Eagle went down 2-0 against top of the league Rainford. A really good performance from the boys and we had some of the better chances in the game. Quality football from both teams but Rainford had the luck in front of goal.
Player of the match went to Jake ⚽️
In their final league game of the season Eagle Madrid beat 3rd placed Rainhill 3-0 at home to finish the season in 4th place in the Premier division.
First half goals from Matty & Ethan and a 2nd half goal from Dylan ensured a good win to end the league season.
The boys deservedly earned their post match pizzas in the changing rooms
Well done everyone. We now have 7 divisional cup games starting 28th April ⚽️👏

When you can’t be arsed putting the effort in on the pitch , just think about the idiots who put the effort in to get your game on ☔️💧☔️
Hi
Just wanted to raise the issue of rubbish left behind after matches again.
Its bad when Eagle are getting slated on FB community pages because of it.
I know a lot of it is kids on the fields at night and not a lot we can do about that , but some of the pictures posted show discarded tape and stuff obviously related to rugby or footy teams.
Can we just do our bit and pick up after ourselves and remind the opposition teams to do the same
Sorry to go on about it.....again
Cheers
Wayne

Training Ground Guru | What Man Utd can learn from Barcelona about culture SIR ALEX FERGUSON harnessed culture to great effect during Manchester United’s golden age, as did Pep Guardiola at Barcelona. This is an area United must refocus on if they are to rediscover their former glories, says Professor Damian Hughes.
