We’re sorry to say it, but summer bike season is coming to an end.

Before the worst of the weather arrives, it’s worth making sure your winter bike is ready for the months ahead. Sealant top-ups, mudguard fitting, wet-weather lubrication, brake and tyre checks or general maintenance, whatever it needs, we’ve got you covered.

And don’t just wheel the summer bike into the garage and forget about it. Putting it away clean, dry and properly maintained helps prevent corrosion and means it’ll be ready to ride when the good weather returns.

If the winter bike has never felt quite as comfortable as the summer bike, now’s also a good time to address that. A proper bike fit can help you put the miles in this winter more comfortably and avoid unnecessary injuries.

Bike fitting shouldn’t start once something hurts.
That’s the argument Lee makes in the latest issue of BikeBiz.

Too often, a bike is chosen first and the rider is fitted around it afterwards. By that point, the frame size, geometry and major component choices have already been made.

At Velo Atelier, we believe that process should happen the other way around.
Understand the rider first. Establish the position. Then select the bike, size and components around them.
It’s the approach that sits behind everything we do, from bike fitting through to helping customers choose and build their next bike.

As President of the International Bike Fitting Institute and a voting member of the UCI Equipment Commission, Lee has spent years helping push bike fitting beyond simply being a solution to discomfort and towards being a fundamental part of buying the right bike.

Replacing your cleats? Don’t just bolt the new ones on and hope for the best.

In the first episode of Ask the Expert, Lee Prescott shows how to replace your cleats while keeping the position as close as possible to your existing setup.

Get the position wrong and it can lead to discomfort or injury. So before you remove the old cleats, it’s worth taking a minute to mark the position properly.

The new ENVE Melee V2.
Lighter. Faster. No Compromise.

The new ENVE Melee V2 is a lighter, faster and more focused race bike than the original.

A size 56 frame weighs below 800g in the Ultralight Black finish, with complete builds capable of reaching the 6.8kg UCI weight limit.

But this is not simply an exercise in making the frame lighter.

Developed with aerodynamicist Simon Smart in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS wind tunnel at Silverstone, the Melee V2 was tested as a complete system, with a real rider, wheels, bottles and cages in place.

The result is a measured 17-watt aerodynamic improvement over the original Melee when combined with ENVE’s new SES Aero Road Bar, Aero Race Tape and SES Aero Bottle Cages.

The race geometry has been refined too, including an 11mm reduction in front-end stack across sizes 56 to 60, creating a lower and more aggressive position.

Which is exactly why the fit matters.

On a bike this focused, the right fit determines whether you can hold that position, produce power and get everything ENVE designed it to deliver.

Road racing soul. Gravel capability.

The new ELARA combines the precision and handling of a road racing bike with clearance for tyres up to 57 mm, creating a new platform for fast, aggressive gravel riding.

Gravel riding has evolved. Equipment choices are increasingly specialised, and the difference between road and off-road racing continues to narrow. ELARA responds to that evolution by bringing the priorities of a modern race bike focused on speed, precision and direct handling, to a platform designed for unpredictable surfaces.

The frame geometry reflects that philosophy. ELARA is designed to place the rider in an efficient, performance-focused position while maintaining the stability required for loose surfaces and high-speed descending.
