The Football Literary Society Presents...The Retired Footballer Calendar 09/01/2024

Inspired by a paragraph in the epilogue of Peter Crouch’s latest book of laddy banter, I decided to adopt his suggestion and celebrate a Retired Footballer every day of the year. I try to cover as many teams as possible to appease the many different fanbases. The goal is to make the reader think of players who once made a living from the game and, in the words of Crouch (and his ghostwriter Tom Fordyce): ‘Just don’t let them be forgotten. Once a footballer, forever a footballer. Hold us in your hearts.’

Although the big names and clubs in world football are all celebrated accordingly, the Retired Footballer Calendar will sometimes throw the spotlight on unsung professionals who mean something to some set of fanatics. The Calendar is available on Amazon for £2.99.
