DanceARC DanceARC is a fun and friendly dance school based in Watford. Classes available for children aged 22 months upwards.

Whilst the main focus of the company is dance, it also aims to inspire in all areas of performing arts and fitness, with support from professionals in all areas, from Directors to Stage Managers, Teachers to Performers.

Tonight was a little milestone for our Primary Ballet dancers… 🩰💜

They went to the ballet barre for the very first time!

It’s one of those little moments that might not seem huge to everyone else, but when you’ve been learning your ballet positions, steps and exercises and suddenly you’re standing at the barre… well, it feels pretty special. 🥹

And I absolutely loved watching them tonight — concentrating, trying something new and, of course, looking very proud of themselves afterwards!

This is what I love about watching children learn to dance.

It’s not just the steps they learn. It’s the confidence that comes from trying something new, the pride when they realise “I can do this!” and all those little milestones along the way. 💜

A new year, two performance groups and two very important team contracts 💜

Our SP.ARCS (Student Performers ARC) are back for another year, and this year we’ve also welcomed our brand new younger group, SP.ARC.LY (Student Performers ARC Little & Younger).

And yes… the SP.ARC.LY name was chosen by the children themselves! 🥰

One of the things I wanted both groups to do in their first lessons back was create their own group contract.
Rather than me telling them what the rules should be, we talked about what makes a good team and what they wanted their group to be about.

So their contracts include things like:
✨ Have fun
🤝 Work as a team
💬 Communicate
💜 Be kind
🙌 Support each other
😂 Don’t laugh at each other

I love that these aren’t just rules from me — they’re things they’ve chosen and agreed to as a group.

Because being part of a performance group is about so much more than learning choreography and performing on stage.

It’s about confidence, teamwork, listening, supporting each other, trying new things and enjoying being part of something together.

Here’s to a brilliant year for both teams! 💜

Something new has arrived in our Rosette, Preparatory & Primary ballet classes… 🩰💜

Our new Ballet Progress Charts are here!

Each dancer now has their own little way of keeping track of the things they’re learning, working on and achieving throughout the year.

It’s not about being the best or getting everything perfect — it’s simply about recognising their own progress and giving them something to look back on and feel proud of. 🥰

The children were SO excited to receive them this week… and I think a few of them were already wondering what they needed to do to fill the next bit in! 😂

I’ll be sharing a little more about how the charts work over the next few weeks, but for now… here’s a little sneak peek 👀

We’re SO excited to be welcoming Blue Orange Images back this term to capture our dancers doing what they do best — dancing, performing and having fun! 💜

🐻🩰 Something new for our younger ballet dancers! 🩰🐻

We’re really excited to be introducing the Melody Bear Award Scheme into our Melody Bear Ballet and 1st Ballet with Melody Bear classes this term! 💜

The award scheme is part of the Melody Bear syllabus and gives our dancers a lovely little way to celebrate all the things they’re learning and achieving in their ballet classes.

Each dancer will have their own Melody Bear certificate to bring to class each week, where they’ll collect stickers as they learn and progress.

⭐ 6 stickers → Certificate 1
⭐ 12 stickers → Certificate 2
🏅 12 stickers collected → Melody Bear medal

And to get everyone started, their first certificate is free, along with a little gift! 🎁

It’s completely optional, of course — just a fun little extra for those who enjoy collecting their stickers and having something special to work towards. There’s no pressure and no competition, just lots of lovely little achievements to celebrate along the way. 💕

We can’t wait to see those certificates filling up! 🐻✨

🧸 Melody Bear & Me — 22 months–4 years
A grown-up-and-child class where you join in together.

👞 Tiny Tappers — ages 3–4
A fun introduction to tap for little dancers.

Next Tuesday we are back in the studio and I honestly can’t wait to see everyone again!

The summer has absolutely flown by, and I’m looking forward to getting back to dancing, laughing and having lots of fun with all of our Dance ARC children.

If you’re new to Dance ARC, welcome! 👋🏻 We’ve got lots of lovely classes for children from 22 months upwards, and there’s still time to get in touch if you’re looking for a class for September.

We still have spaces in some of our classes, including our 3–4 year old Melody Bear Ballet, so if you’ve been thinking about giving dance a try, just send me a message. 💜

Our Melody Bear Ballet class is a lovely introduction to ballet for 3–4 year olds — with music, movement, imagination and lots of fun along the way. 🧸
