Merry Christmas all πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»

😎

Now, some of you will say because I completed it that I didn’t fail.

I failed by my own standards.
Not because of fitness, although I felt unprepared going into the race, the running side ended up being my best bit.

I failed at the end with
1. Sandbag Lunges
- a 15 second penalty for dropping the sandbag (which I was unaware you couldn’t do) which was fair enough - no problem. The official taking 2/3 minutes to log it on his little machine took the p**s, slowing me down.
2. Wall Balls
- This is what really enraged me beyond belief. I realise that it’s the same for everyone. However, I am saying from MY point of view that this what let me down the most and cost me almost 20 minutes along with the sandbag lunges.
My hands were so sweaty that on a consistent basis the ball kept slipping out of my hands, either missing the target completely or falling short. The leathery material used for the wall balls is an abomination of the highest order. On top of the official not counting reps which in my opinion should have counted.

Overall, this rattled me and my head had gone by this point. I ended up doing at least 200 instead of 100. I even asked what would happen if I just walked off, I was that incensed.

The point of this post is to show that it is important to acknowledge failure as this is how we learn and grow. Not everything will all be rainbows and pots of gold.

I will turn this failure into a positive, work harder than ever, reapply next year hopefully and prove to myself this was a one off. 06/12/2025
