Every academy has a story.

This is where we were until 2019. Then we moved to Blackfen, and not long afterwards, COVID changed everything.

The years that followed weren’t always straightforward. We had to adapt, keep going and find our way forward.

Now, Tan’Gun has returned to Welling with a full time home of its own.

This isn’t simply another change of venue. It feels like the beginning of a new chapter built on everything we’ve learned and everything our students and families have helped us preserve.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come.

This is where we are now.

🥋 WE’RE LOOKING FOR MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTORS. BUT NOT JUST ANY INSTRUCTORS 🥋

Tan’Gun Martial Arts is growing, and we’re looking for exceptional people to join our teaching team.

You might come from Taekwondo, Karate, Kickboxing or another martial arts background.

You might even be a teacher, sports coach or someone with great experience working with children who would love to develop as a martial arts instructor.

What matters most to us isn’t simply the style you practise or the grade around your waist.

It’s how you teach.

We believe martial arts can have high standards without humiliation.

Discipline without fear.

Structure without shouting.

And tradition without being trapped by outdated ways of doing things.

We’re looking for people who can teach with energy, compassion, patience and personality — instructors who understand that the best coaching doesn’t just create better martial artists.

A good kick is not just about what happens in the air.

What happens before it and where you land afterwards matters just as much.

In this exercise, our students are learning to combine their kicks with purposeful footwork: bounce without drifting, deliver the kick and use the kick itself to travel forwards.

That small correction makes an enormous difference.

It improves balance, distance control and the ability to move with intention rather than simply rushing towards an opponent.

This is how strong technique is developed: careful instruction, focused repetition and the confidence to keep improving.

And, as always, we recognise the courage it takes to demonstrate in front of the whole class. Well done! 👏🥋

Children carry more than books into a new school year.

They may carry worries about fitting in, speaking up, getting something wrong or facing challenges without a parent beside them.

Confidence cannot simply be handed to a child with the words, “Believe in yourself.”

They need opportunities to earn it.

Every time they step onto the mats, attempt something unfamiliar and discover that a mistake is not the end, they build evidence that says:

“I can handle this.”

That is the confidence they carry into school, friendships and the rest of their lives.
