Fugly Pacer - Blown Methanol Madness
The car was built at home with the help of his son in law Steven Spiller.
This is FUGLY,Steve Wrights 1975 AMC Pacer, powered by a 509cu methanol burning big-block Chevy blown by a BDS 14-71 supercharger built by Kenny Gomez, gearbox built by ZanNetec.

Ok time for a catch up, it’s taken quite a while, but I’m thinking I’ve got all the parts needed to get back on track. After the accident I decided to go right through the engine, found a few marks in the bores I wasn’t happy with, so decided to replace the pistons and rods, rebore the block, then found the new rods were a little bit wider than the old ones, had to relieve the block so they would fit, had everything balanced and reassembled. Was going to put a smaller blower on the car but after a long chat with Kenny Gomez, he decided to put a 14-71 high helix blower on it with a different hat, went up to Scotland for a couple of days with him to go through all the work he had done and fit the heads, engine now at home and I’m sorting all the small stuff, plumbing and wiring etc, will post more pictures as I progress. Huge Thanks to Kenny for all his work and support couldn’t do it without him 👍😊
We finally got the video from the bonnet mounted GoPro of the car fire. It shows just how quickly things can escalate...

Engine is out and being pulled down as we speak. Transmission front seal has failed, converter is toast, but the main and most important thing is thats Steve's hand is healing well 😀

Thankfully it's looking like most of the bodywork damage is to the body.... at a quick glance the chassis looks straight. On with the strip down....

We have now begun the full car strip down to work out how much damage was done after the transmission fire.
Tonight we got "Fugly" fired up and checked over before she went into the trailer ready for Dragstalgia next weekend 😁
Well it's a few months old but just found this video from our last outing. Completely forgot this wasn't uploaded. Sorry, my bad....
Sorry its sideways, but here is the first run, using both gears. Managed a 9.6, car has checked out well after so we will be back out soon 😀
