A wonderful afternoon with our friends at Cullompton Rugby Club. An honour to continue to remember Rivers with you all⦠thank you for coming. Cullompton Rugby Club
The Rivers Barry Memorial Match 2025
This year was not to be for Cullompton RFC Luvies XI who came up 3 runs short. This was not a bad result for a team of players that included some who had never held a bat in their lives but still bravely joined in in Rivers memory.
Notable efforts with the bat for us this year were 15 year old Max Coombes who hit 50, and nearer to 50 year old JT who did the same.
There was a lot of bowling some may wish to forget but those of note were, Sam Cooke, JT, and Isca Wyle who took great pleasure in bowling out her older brother Rivers who was playing for Nynehead.
A huge thank you to all who attended, not just to play but also to spectate.
A special big thank you goes out to Dave Jewell (DAD) for organizing so much of the day! And one to Chris Grant for organizing the Cullompton RFC Luvies.
This was a day where great fun was had by all, some decent cricket was played to appreciate and some very special moments that will probably want to be forgotten.
As ever, the person massively missed on the day was Rivers Barry himself.
Rest in Peace Rivers.β€οΈπ€

See you all next year.

Head Groundsperson required
Volunteer
Nynehead Cricket Club are seeking a Head Groundsperson. The role is voluntary and grants a seat on the committee to help run and shape the future of the club.
As Head Groundsperson, you will be passionate about helping a village cricket club that is important to the local community. Nynehead CC has grown a young core of players and committee members, who are keen to contribute but need showing what to do. You will not be alone in maintaining the cricket field, there will be other volunteers from Nynehead CC and Mass CC, however they will need to be trained and initially may need to be supervised. The ability to demonstrate to others and delegate effectively is crucial to spread the workload and ensure the role remains manageable.
The Head Groundsperson has overall responsibility for the upkeep of our beautiful cricket field including but not limited to:
β’ Year round cutting and maintenance of the grass on the square and outfield
β’ Preparation of the square in advance of the cricket season
β’ Preparation and maintenance of cut wicket strips
β’ Rolling the ground to ensure a compact and level playing surface
β’ Restoration of the pitch and square at the end of the season.
β’ Upkeep and maintenance of machinery including ride-on mower, petrol lawn mowers, roller, strimmers etc. using external contractors where required.
β’ Organising of work parties and delegating tasks to club members as and when required.
β’ Organising the purchasing of consumables through the club treasurer e.g. grass seed, fertiliser, loam.
You will need to be confident using heavy machinery safely, and in supervising and training others at the club to do the same.
Nynehead Cricket Club are a local village cricket club, re-established in 1988. We play friendly cricket on Sundays and one midweek evening throughout the season. Recently Nynehead CC have agreed a groundshare with Mass Cricket Club, who play league cricket on a Saturday and will begin to play midweek fixtures in 2025.

EDIT: WORK PARTY - CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER. Rescheduled for Saturday 28th September, 9-3.
It's the end of the season, we have played our last match. It's time to put the ground to bed for the autumn and winter, including renovation of the square.
There is a lot to be done, so the more help we can get the better. Don't worry if you can't be there for 9, or until 3, any time you can give will be greatly appreciated.
